Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed Comparison

Foton Tunland

VS

Great Wall Steed

Welcome to the Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed comparison for 2018. Two of the least known ute brands on the market at the moment and the cheapest 4WD use in Australia and both brands are aiming for more sales. Of course they seem to be slow learners and neither has made a real impact as they sell on price rather than refinement, safety, quality or reliability.  It’s about time we checked both out and good luck if you can actually find one near by.

Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed exterior comparison: Neither design is modern but the Foton does look like the more substantial one due to being bigger and more modern front end design. The Great Wall Steed is clearly the older design but it’s not ugly just older.

Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed interior comparison: The Tunland actual has a decent interior for the price and was recently updated in a surprising fashion to a best described as similar to GM/Nissan cars and much better place to be in a match for other brands. The Great Wall Steed tries to be car like and is an OK place to be in but it is not as nice as the Tunland. Both are different designs which is great but neither is a unique place to be in or brand defining. The Tunland has the better presented interior.

Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed engines and technology comparison: The Tunland is a bit of a surprise heavily promoting the key parts of it’s construction. The Tunland boast a Cummins diesel engine, Getrag 5 speed but nondescript 6 speed auto, a DANA axle with a diff lock and whether this means anything to you… In 2018 it needs well known commercial focused branded parts to appeal and more airbags. Also a word of warning the tech changes occur often so you need to be careful what spec you are looking at. The Great Wall Steed on the other hand has the latest tech including 4WD with locking diffs and a AWD mode for sealed roads the only short fall is the 5 speed manual.

Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed drive: N/A

Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed street cred: For us the Great Wall has the better street cred but for the wrong reasons. The Foton is completely unknown brand at the moment but branded parts especially the known Cummins engine to truck drivers gives it a leg up on the Great Wall? Besides many people simply don’t want to be known has driving the cheapest ute in Australia parked in the front yard.

The winner Foton Tunland Vs Great Wall Steed comparison is the Tunland. Simple reasons include it has an automatic for 2018 as an option and a nicer interior, however it comes auto comes at a price, approximately $5000 more for the equilivent model grade. However buyers for these two are price sensitive and the Steed’s manual has appeal to those in the country if that.
