Welcome to the comparison between the Mitsubishi ASX Vs Holden Captiva comparison for 2018. An odd comparison as the Captiva is in run out to be replaced by the Equinox and the ASX is being made until they stop selling as the replacement is Eclipse Cross is already available. Although you would think this is a pointless comparison but the fact that the ASX is still one of the best selling small SUVs means it’s worth having a look as all possible competitors in the price range.
Mitsubishi ASX Vs Holden Captiva exterior comparison: This is not a size comparison! The Holden Capitva is a nice looking SUV overall and comes to two sizes and dating nicely. However cheap paint ruins the look and looks entry level even in top spec. The ASX has a number of face lifts over the years but still can’t hide it’s older lines. Don’t look too closely and with it’s high end looking alloys wheels across the range helps lifts it appearance. Better paint also make it look high end than it is.
Mitsubishi ASX Vs Holden Captiva interior comparison: Not much to we can say about the two but there filling is a summary. The interior of the Captiva is good but it is dated hence feeling a little cheap. The ASX interior is likewise dated but still functional. In fact there are more places to put stuff in the ASX then the Captiva. The ASX presents like a small high rise hatchback which adds to it’s appeal both interior and exterior with better quality feeling than the Captiva. You wouldn’t buy these two based on having that latest high quality interior materials but the ASX comes closer to being modern design.
Mitsubishi ASX Vs Holden Captiva engines and technology comparison: It’s really basic in this end of the market with simple petrol or turbo diesel engines. The V6 in the Captiva is a bonus but spec shows it needs revs and uses a lot of fuel if you can find one. The ASX has an engine which makes enough power and plenty of safety system including auto brakes and entertainment systems with the stereo system being future proof and easy to upgrade. In 2018 there is nothing outstanding about either in the part of the comparison. Further more there a very few button blanks on the ASX.
Mitsubishi ASX Vs Holden Captiva drive comparison: N/A
The winner of the comparison is the Mitsubishi ASX. It’s a relatively easy win for the ASX. The Captiva is not for the long term due to reliability issues. If the Captiva didn’t have such a history or mechanical issues and priced accordingly it may have succeeded in the sale charts. We can see why the ASX still sells well with over 12000 units in 2018. It has plenty of pricing specials and has most of the modern tech features with reliability as part of the package. The Mitsubishi ASX for under $23,990 for the entry level and mid range model around $30,000 you get a small SUV with the most features and for just over $32,000 with everything including a panoramic sunroof! Very few cars or SUVs can match that pricing. Yes the Mitsubishi ASX is the best value small SUV in Australia.
