Released back in 2014 and it has aged quite well, in that it doesn’t look like an older model. There’s less hard plastic as per cars in the late 2008 era during the world financial crisis. That said it does look like more ‘up markete’ hard plastics as per the prior generation Toyota Kluger so it’s not too bad. The design is traditional T-bar with nice switches and graphics. The formerly fully feature stereo system is still decent in 2019. Nicely coloured info screen, analogue clock, fancy seat trim, is better than the ASX, although dimensionally smaller doesn’t feel it. The ASX interior hasn’t changed from 2010 is it honestly feels like a nice place to be given the age and price. Sure it does feel old compared to the latest SUVs and even the Vitara but it’s overall OK.

The lack of up to date safety systems like auto brakes is a problem but it has the usual suite of brake assists systems and airbags. The 2020 ASX has a notable specification advantage.
