Mitsubishi Outlander Vs Mazda CX-5 comparison

Mitsubishi Outlander
VS
Mazda CX-5

Welcome to the new 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander vs Honda CR-V comparison review. Both brand new models for 2013 and appreciated additions to the small 4WD and SUV class at the time this was written.

Mazda CX-5 vs Mitsubishi Outlander exterior:  Both modern following their own design themes. We don’t think the Outlander looks good in the showroom which is the opposite of the CX-5. However on the road the Outlander looks much more together design than the CX-5, the Mazda looks nice but derivative and slightly awkward and the complete opposite of it stylish CX-7 predecessor.

Mazda CX-5 vs Mitsubishi Outlander interior: The CX-5 interior looks modern and the materials are good but it doesn’t quite impart the ambience of prestige but it is definitely the more expensive place to seat. The Outlander’s interior is quite good too but does not come across as premium but it is almost modern, the materials and overall design can only be described as nice. The CX-5 wins because we think the interior looks better.

Mazda CX-5 vs Mitsubishi Outlander engine and technology: Until the Outlander PHEV version is released there is absolutely nothing outstanding about the technology. Where as the CX-5 currently has the most fuel efficient petrol engine in the class but it is reportedly quite slow. We and you will need to reassess the Outlander when the hybrid that happens otherwise there’s not much to get excited.  Due to its lack of power don’t expect the laboratory assessed fuel consumption figures.  CX-5 win this part of the comparison.

Mitsubishi Outlander Vs Honda CRV test drive: N/A

In the end, until Mitsubishi gets around to releasing the PHEV version which claims to have a fuel consumption of less than 2 litres per hundred kilometers this may prove to be a turning point and hopefully gets the pricing right… For now the extra space and looks are really the only factors that differentiate the two. We are surprisingly neutral in what we think as each has its own pros and cons so good luck deciding!
