The iLoad was a very competitive light commercial van when released over 10 years ago . It has refinement, power and space compared to the its only really competitor the Hiace. However it has now been joined by the new Mitsubishi Express the rebadged Renault Traffic amongst many new competitors never seen before.

Mitsubishi Express / Renault Trafic Vs Hyundai iLoad exterior comparison: As we’ve said before the Mitsubishi Express is clearly a rebadge of the Renault Trafic. So everything that is good and bad relating to the Renault applies to the Mitsubishi Express as well. Overall the Express is a good looking van and it does have more individual styling elements to it than it’s competitors including the iLoad. The iLoad is clearly the older design and to some that’s a good thing but to most its needs another refresh if Hyundai are not replacing the underlying platform.

Mitsubishi Express / Renault Trafic Vs Hyundai iLoad interior comparison: Both interiors are pretty good and mini-van like. In the iLoad we don’t mind the dated curves and round edges but it’s so 2000’s in terms of ambience. It is also surprising that they don’t really have commercial features like specific mobile phone, tablet or scanning, toll tags, CB radio or even GPS mounting points. That said the Express is the bigger van and has more odd item storage.

Mitsubishi Express / Renault Trafic Vs Hyundai iLoad engines and technology comparison: The Express / Traffic does not have any more technical features than the iLoad in terms of safety but loses it on the perception of reliability and running costs. This is the perception of the Renault Trafic and inherently applies to the Express as well. Only time will tell weather Renault’s QC is good enough for the long term and brand reputation. As a commercial vehicle the tech needs to be reliable as that is what they are supposed to be built for as any down time costs money. The iLoad’s reliability as a commercial has been proven and it’s technical features are it’s engine and rear wheel drive however it is missing little things like parking sensors for example.

The conclusion and winner of the Mitsubishi Express / Renault Trafic Vs Hyundai iLoad comparison is the new Mitsubishi Express. It’s not about why the Express/ Traffic wins but why the Hyundai iLoad doesn’t. Being an established and proven model there hasn’t been any technical upgrades – just a front end face lift, yet they still have the same asking price. The iLoad is also missing parking sensors which is unforgivable in 2020 and reflective of Hyundai’s general corporate philosophy these days. Hence having the same features from 13 years ago it just doesn’t deserve a win in our opinion.

<td style="text-align: left;
