However it can certainly go off road as any other normal vehicle but no where near the capability of a 4WD. It is highly unlikely that potential buyers would cross shop between the two models but none the less we put the comparison up because we were curious!

There are LOTS of model variants, options and special editions for the Commodore so it shouldn’t be too hard to get a unique version. Specifications are for 2009 V6 and V8 models. The last time I looked there was the Omega, Berlina, Calais, Calais V-series, SV6, SS and SSV-Series etc… So if you are after a 2WD and rear wheel car but in a wagon form like the Prado then this might suit you.

The latest version (late 2009) introduces the more fuel efficient engines under the SIDI branding. However it is not all as it seems because our rental V6 didn’t beat the sub-14 litres we usually get for the Prado in city traffic.

It is a nice station wagon that goes well on normal roads. It is quiet and good quality materials inside with minimal rattles, but it does look and feel cheaper. We thought it was good value for money for a large car but not the package we were looking for at the time.

Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You should check the official Holden website for your country for the most up to date information.

120 series LandCruiser Prado (2002-2010)

Holden Commodore Sportswagon

Engines

1GR-FE –
