This is not a like for like comparison, after all they are quite different is size and price range. The Kia Sportage in it’s current guise is due to replacement later in 2021 and is in the small SUV class compared to the Sorento which clearly medium to large. Regardless this comparison is a nice segway to the new Sportage comparison when released. The Sorento is the larger wagon but essentially using the same tech as the prior model but stretched. This comparison is purely out of interest as many will question weather getting a larger Sorento is worth buying over the smaller Kia Sportage, which is the key point of this comparison.

Kia Sportage Vs Kia Sorento exterior comparison: The Kia Sorento is a modern looking and in the right model grade looks upmarket. However the cheaper looking paint job doesn’t help and looks a bit tired after a few months on the road. It’s the latest styling theme being used by Kia – which makes it different to the Sportage. The Kia Sportage uses Kia’s older design language which was rate highly due to being more individual. Nonetheless the Sportage still looks contemporary and decent in all model grades. In comparison, the Sorento’s new theme is a little derivative probably caused by carry over last generation panels when compared to other brands. Regardless the Sorento is a nicely proportioned design that looks conservatively good dependent on how much you pay but we’ve seen it before.

Kia Sportage Vs Kia Sorento interior comparison: The older Sportage has a very good interior and it looks and feels good for the price. It does get better the higher the model grade even by 2021 standards. The Sorento shows the way Kia is designing their new interiors and it does look good but only the more expensive model grades. It’s a great interior by price standards and impresses by offering screens and higher quality plastics. It’s OK for the price range and better than the Sportage although neither will trouble the more storied brands.

Kia Sportage Vs Kia Sorento engine and technology comparison: Being different models they do not share any visually obvious parts including engines but we assume that some underbody parts are shared for cost savings. There is nothing wrong with that. Sure the Sportage is missing the lastest tech like a full digital dashboard and various motor power gadgets but it is an older model.

Kia Sportage Vs Kia Sorento drive report : N/A

The conclusion and winner of the Kia Sportage Vs Kia Sorento comparison is a draw. Although the current Sportage is being replaced this year but the current model does standup to the competition in the class. In the end, a top range Sportage is a match of the entry level Sorento easily – not so much the more expensive models which present better. You would only buy by the Sorento over the Sportage for the extra interior space and to a lesser extent it’s exterior looks.

Kia Sorento

Kia Sportage

Engines

6 Cylinder –
