The Stonic brand may be a new release but the HR-V is decades old. That said the current HR-V is due for replacement this year despite being a top seller. Since the new model images have already been released it is quite different in style so we predict that Honda would be foolish to discontinue this version any time soon. So how do these compare?

Kia Stonic Vs Honda HR-V exterior comparison: The Sonic is clearly a high rise version of the Kia Rio with the obligatory plastic cladding. It’s not bad to look at just a little old and derivative 2021. The HR-V hasn’t been changed since released years ago and still looks quite up to date. The HR-V is the better looker as it’s different from it’s competitors by not being deliberately uglified, bar the design of the tail light of course,

Kia Stonic Vs Honda HR-V Venue interior comparison: The interior of the HR-V is really nice compared to other small SUVs and the space efficiency is better than the others including the Stonic. It looks a bit classic Honda and modern at the same time. The Sonic is a decent place to be in as well although cheaper in look and feel that the HR-V. There is plenty of hard plastic in the HR-V but it’s just hidden better than in the Sonic.

Kia Stonic Vs Honda HR-V engine and technology comparison: The Stonic has class average safety systems and a set of nearly adequately powered engines. The problem is the DCT automatic which – based on other brands will likely be problematic in a few years. We are being flippant by saying that it is no doubt seal the Kia brand as a cheaper less reliable model. However maybe Hyundai and Kia have solved the tech issues with DCT gearboxes? The HR-V’s safety systems is very class average but the single engine option is one of the better ones you can get. However the CVT in the the HR-V is a bit downer although completely adequate. Neither have any fancy gadgets to speak of.

Kia Stonic Vs Honda HR-V drive report : N/A

The conclusion and winner of the Kia Stonic Vs Hyundai Venue comparison is the HR-V. The HR-V wins as it is ‘worth it’ compared to the Stonic. That said the move to fixed pricing for new Honda models reveal a higher on road price structure for the HR-V. It’s not cheaper than the Sonic but it’s not just a high rise version of a donor hatchback hence ‘worth it’. In comparison there is nothing wrong with the Stonic as long you accept that it is the cheapest way of buying a ‘SUV’ but that’s a stretch description as it is really just the smallest cheapest hatchback with larger wheels and tyres and marketed as an SUV. Aside from that the price difference is quite high compared to the donor Kia Rio model.

Kia Stonic

Honda HR-V

Engines

3 Cylinder –
