The SZ series Territory is the latest update model to SY series which is still largely the same as the original series.

We are comparing the two model are since many would like to know what the differences are between the new and older model. The best thing about the Territory is that it is a value for money model with much more cred than the Holden equivalent. Even the older Territory drove better then the competition including the Captiva and Kluger and its also more comfortable and is a unique model. We expect the new one to be even better. Until then here is the key specification comparison.

The latest Ford Territory has a different front end with smaller lights and updated interior. We noticed that every manufacturer is doing smaller headlights these days. At first glance it looks like someone’s pinched the ones from the Accord Euro. Unfortunately none of them can be called classic or memorable including this design. Specification and review comparison below.

The new Ford Territory’s exterior design is still nice, although the front and rear light design will need more time to get used to, the rest of the car is basically identical and still looks good.

The interior design looks nicer with clear elements of other popular SUV which is very conservative but at least inoffensive. The interior can also seat up to 7 people which handy. The inclusion of the integrated in-car entertainment system linked to the air-con system bring it in line with the latest European cars. Hope its reliable…

The biggest change to the 2012 Ford Territory is updated mechanical package which includes a diesel engine. The diesel engine is typically modern and borrowed from Land Rover. We expect big things from this engine in the future since there are very few with this sort of engine in the SUV class. That’s it for now – until we get to drive the new one.

1Ford territory SZ series (Prior to 2011)

Ford Territory SY series (After March 2011)

Engines

Barra 190 –
