All new as a 2022 model the Hyundai Tucson does make it’s presence known by having a relatively stand out design. The RAV4 also made an impression 2 years ago for it’s unexpected but good looking rugged lines and it’s technical package. Their prices and size are similar so a perfect review and comparison.

Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota RAV4 exterior: What can we say in regards to the Tucson design? It’s bold and challenging just like the rest of the current generation of Hyundai models. We think Hyundai ended up with this design theme for 2 reasons: 1. it is forward thinking and we think it was deliberate attempt at standing out from the crowd 2. (More likely) they misread the market and the design progression of it’s the competitors. In comparison the RAV4 looks good and a different direction to the superseded model. We think it’s just as modern to look at without the fancy lines on the Tucson.

Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota RAV4 interior: The Tucson interior is nice enough for the price and is departure and at odds from the external styling reminiscent of the Toyota Tarago from the 90’s. Unfortunately The Tucson is not an impressive place to be in especially with after thought design details like the instrument panel and centre console. Overall the new Tucson interior looks ‘thin’. In comparison the RAV4 interior is more impressive place to be although not truly upmarket, looks and feels better.

Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota RAV4 engines and technology: The Tucson has carry over engines and a diesel option. The safety systems are almost fully featured on all models. The RAV4 on the other hand has the same safety systems and has the Hybrid engine option. The Hybrid engine is a segment killer and that’s why it sells better than the others.

Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota RAV4 drive : N/A

The conclusion to the Hyundai Tucson vs Toyota RAV4 is the RAV4. The RAV4 wins by being value for money and better overall package for the price. Toyota’s hybrid engine is the trump card. The Tucson is certainly not a dud but it’s old tech in a new body that seems a little rushed to market.

Hyundai Tucson

Toyota TAV4

Engines

4 Cylinder Petrol
2 Litre (1999cc)
DOHC EFI VVT
Claimed 115Kw @ 6200RPM
Claimed 192Nm @ 4000RPM

4 Cylinder Petrol
2 Litre (1987cc) 91 Octane
DOHC EFI VVT
Claimed 127Kw @ 6600RPM
Claimed 203Nm @ 4400RPM

4 Cylinder Turbo Petrol
1.6 Litre (1598cc)
DOHC EFI VVT
Claimed 132Kw @ 5500RPM
Claimed 265Nm @ 1500RPM

4 Cylinder Petrol
2.5 Litre (2487cc)
DOHC EFI VVT
Claimed 152Kw @ 6600RPM
Claimed 243Nm @ 4000RPM

4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel
2 Litre (1598cc)
DOHC EFI DI CR
Claimed 137Kw @ 4000RPM
Claimed 416Nm @ 2000RPM

4 Cylinder Petrol Hybrid
2.5 Litre (2487cc)
DOHC EFI VVT
Claimed 163Kw @ 4000RPM
Claimed 221Nm @ 3600RPM

Weight

Kerb weight FROM 1556Kg
Towing capacity up to 1600Kg

Kerb weight FROM 1515Kg
Towing capacity up to 1500kg
*Dependimg on engine type

Fuel capacity &
