Although the current X-trail pictured here is due to be replaced it is still being sold as a new model hence this comparison. The other not so surprising facts that they will soon share the same underbody and other parts. However for now the X-Trail is mostly it’s own model until then.

2022 Mitsubishi Outback Vs Nissan X-Trail exterior comparison: The -Trail has aged quite well over the year and it still looks pretty good. Various refreshes over the years have added a new front end and equipment updates but the basic shape has stated the same for about 8 years. The new Outlander design is immediately obvious but recognisably a Mitsubishi purely due to the front end design which it now shares the same design language as every other Mitsubishi SUV. It’s nice and looks deceptively big in picture and in real life. We think the Outlander looks better this time.

2022 Mitsubishi Outback Vs Nissan X-Trail interior comparison: The X-Trail is a nice place to be in dependent on model grade and it fits into the style of appealing to virtually anyone. Sure it is looking a little old school but for the price at the time is was exactly what you would expect. The new Outlander and a up to date interior and the more you pay the better it looks and feels. it looks and mostly feels size bigger compared to the X-Trail.

2022 Mitsubishi Outback Vs Nissan X-Trail engines and technology: The new Outlander uses updated tech seemingly shared with the forth comping X-Trail which in turn is based on this older X-Trail. So both share the same tech but this X-Trail is the less refined model. The more you pay the better the equipment level is.That said the X-Trail no longer has engine options in what we anticipate as the final spec of this X-Trail and your a stuck with the older generation of the new Outback engine.

In conclusion and winner to the 2022 Mitsubishi Outback Vs Nissan X-Trail comparison is the new Outlander. The Outlander wins by looking, feeling and having more model tech compared to the much older X-Trail. However the lack of engine options on the Outlander at the time of release and considering the price tag makes it quite expensive and slow. That said the car and SUV market has seen price rises across the board in the last 12 months so you just have to accept that this is the new price bracket for any new release. The price increases go all the way to the most affordable cars checkout the latest pricing for the Yaris or Mazda2…

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

Nissan X-Trail

Engines

IL Petrol (91 Octane)
DOHC Engine EFI
2.4 Litre (2488cc)
Claimed 135Kw @ 6000RPM
Claimed 245Nm @ 3600RPM

IL 4 Cylinder Petrol
DOHC EFI VVT
2.0 Litre (1996cc)
Claimed 106Kw @ 6000RPM (Manual)
Claimed 200Nm @ 4400RPM (Manual)

IL4 Cylinder Petrol
2.5 Litre (2488cc)
DOHC Engine EFI
Claimed 126Kw @ 6000RPM
Claimed 226Nm @ 4400RPM

IL 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel
DI CR EFI
2.0 Litre (1995cc)
Claimed 130Kw @ 3750RPM
Claimed 380Nm @ 2000RPM

Weight

Kerb weight FROM 1725Kg
Towing capacity up to 1600kg

FROM 1425 Kg
Towing capacity up to 1650kg

Fuel capacity &
