Traditionally these two models would be direct competitors in terms of size, however the HRV pricing starts where the Puma ends. We normally wouldn’t but as branding is often price related and Honda does not have the brand cache to carry that off. As a result you’d would question whether the HRV is worth more than a Ford Puma? In deed if on the same sale lot you’d compare the two anyway.

Honda HR-V Vs Ford Puma exterior comparison: Although a new model for 2022 the HRV looks dated and relatively ‘cheap’ for the asking price. The more we look at it the best description of the HRV design is that it is an ultra conservative design. The Ford Puma is a modern looking and stylish small SUV or a high rise hatch back. In fact it looks a little more individual than the Ford Fiesta which it is based on.

Honda HR-V Vs Ford Puma interior comparison: Once again the interior design of the HRV is best described as minimalist. We’ve called it Zen as there are really just lines to look at. Honda could have done something more fancy like the other brands, even Toyota does something more interesting so this is deliberate by Honda to be different by being boring. The Puma is a modern design but as it is based on the Ford Fiesta the interior is nice but not premium.

Honda HR-V Vs Ford Puma drive report : N/A

Honda HR-V Vs Ford Puma engines and tech comparison: Both lots of safety systems dependent on model grade but they are essentially class average. In terms of engines the HRV has a decent petrol hybrid which compares well with the Puma’s turbo petrol. If comparing the price difference $5000+ still buys a lot of petrol so the Hybrid HRV in it’s current spec needs to be even more fuel efficient to highlight it as the default choice.

The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs Ford Puma is clearly the Puma. Sure the Puma is slightly smaller but with the decent engine and fair pricing by 2022 standards it’s a winner. It is not perfect and one of them relates to the requirement for 95 Octane. That said with petrol prices hovering over $2 AUD per litre the HRV is simply not fuel efficient enough – even though it is very good to be better value. Assuming that you can drive the Puma carefully of course!

Honda HR-V

Ford Puma

Engines

4 Cylinder –
