The Toyota CH-R was the in spirit forerunner to the Honda HR-V in it’s current model 2022 model cycle. It was traditionally un Toyota like in terms of styling and pricing. The HR-V is like wise quite different to what Honda was making before. Namely unadventurous styling and high pricing. Like wise both adopt random letters as their model name rather than actual names. So how to do they compare?

Honda HR-V Vs Toyota CH-R exterior comparison: When released the CH-R was a bit of a standout when released in 2016, it looked unlike any other current model Toyota. Furthermore the CH-R looked great regardless of angle and embraced un-Toyota like elements that hampered use. In comparison the HR-V doesn’t move design forward in anyway look very much like 90’s and 2000’s lift back.

Honda HR-V Vs Toyota CH-R interior comparison: The HRV interior is a nice and spacious place to be in but while it is contemporary there is nothing flashy about it. The CH-R interior is again a departure from the usual Toyota theme. It’s dark while largely useless elements like rear windows and the scattered diamond patterns appears seemingly random. It’s also a nice place to be in but does feel a little claustrophobic.

Honda HR-V Vs Toyota CH-R drive report : N/A

Honda HR-V Vs Toyota CH-R engines and tech comparison: The HRV comes with a basic carry over engine and a new Hybrid version. Neither are what you would call powerful or fast but adequate. It has virtually all the latest safety systems, in car entertainment and connectivity you’d expect. In comparison the CH-R has a small entry level turbo engine and a Hybrid engine option. It also offers AWD as an option that still undercuts the Honda by thousands of dollars. Power outputs are not impressive but both are targeted at city and suburban commuting hence fuel efficiency rather and speed. Safety systems are dependent on model grade. There is nothing leading edge about these specifications by 2022 standards.

The conclusion and winner of the Honda HR-V Vs Toyota CH-R is clearly CH-R. As you can see by the historical pricing, the CH-R has always been one of the most expensive small SUVs. Styling and equipment levels justify the CH-R’s pricing regardless of model year. It was also one of the first equipped with a small turbo engine and a Hybrid engine option with AWD. Sure the HRV is bigger but CH-R price is still cheaper and you get more stuff and it looks much better.

Honda HR-V

Toyota CH-R

Engines

4 Cylinder –
