Two different models from the same manufacturer will always be a worthy comparison. Hence the MG4 and the MG ZS EV being on sale at the same time is an interesting sales model at first but as we discovered they are quite different. So which one is the better electric vehicle?

MG4 Electric Vs MG ZS EV exterior comparison: The design of both models are homages to other manufactures, especially the MG ZS which as design elements of the Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX-5 of the time. The most obvious design flaw of the MG ZS regardless if it is the electric version or not is the small wheel and tyres that are fitted. It is not unexpected as it is a stretched out platform form a much smaller car, arguably the MG2 model. (to be confirmed) The MG4 design doesn’t have any real issues apart from looking like an older 1980’s hatchback from any number of manufactures but the front end of any other 2024 models.

MG4 Electric Vs MG ZS EV interior comparison: The interiors of both models are not basic but a level above. Good places to be in but on the aged side of things. Without the digital screens the interiors look like designs from around 201o but with 2024 seats. Overall they are acceptable considering your are paying for the electric drive train than fancy interior design.

MG4 Electric Vs MG ZS EV engine and technology comparison: Since the MG ZS EV came first it has the tech of it’s day. It is relatively inefficient but works – No need to expand. Unfortunately it uses a lot of power, quoted 17.1 Kw per 100 kilometres at best which is quite inefficient. The MG4 is in a similar position but has the option of AWD dual motors for impressive performance for a relatively affordable price. The subscription packages on both are the only cause of concern and of course longer term support, reliability and durability.

The conclusion and winner of the MG4 Electric Vs MG ZS EV comparison is the MG4. The MG4 has better performance and is the key feature that makes it better than the MG ZS EV. Furthermore since they are the same retail price we prefer the value of money factor. On the other hand MG ZS EV may be the choice but only if you want a higher ride height and don’t care about aesthetics. That said the undersized wheels on the MG ZS EV indicates problems and short falls in the basic design and should really selling for less than the MG4. Final issue is of course the subscription after 5 years at the time of this post for some functions on the App, mainly for remote functions.

The following comment may induce conspiracy theories because it is quite plausible – due to it’s remote and location functionality being subscription – as a result although unlikely – it is possible for the company to track and prevent you from using either car. It is of course commercial death for the brand and company in question.

<td style="text-align: left;
