We can’t believe it is 5 years since the last X-Trail comparison against the CR-V! We where going to wait till the release of the all new CR-V but as always we like to see if older models are just as good as fresh new releases. Hence the old time rivals the new Nissan X-Trail Vs the out going Honda CR-V comparison – for the last time.

Honda CR-V Vs Nissan X-Trail exterior: The new X-Trail is a nice looking SUV on the outside. It is very much like the ‘smaller’ Qashqai but with more conservative angles. However the older CR-V is a more thought out design that tries to be a little different. Front, side and rear end have details missing on more modern designs like that X-Trail which merely has a more ornate front end. The CR-V doesn’t look its age to be honest could have lasted a little longer.

Honda CR-V Vs Nissan X-Trail interior: The X-Trail interior is a nice place to be in as it looks and feels good. Sure it is generic in both departments but that is arguably the worst criticism you can give it. The CR-V like all its predecessors has a more flexible interior and features that make carrying people and their things better than others in the class. It can almost be called van like in terms of flexibility. However the interior design is showing it’s age.

Honda CR-V Vs Nissan X-Trail engine and technology: The X-Trail has better tech and safety features than the out going CR-V. It also has a Hybrid option that is missing on the Honda. As a result this is a very short comparison section.

The conclusion and winner to the new Honda CR-V Vs Nissan X-Trail comparison is the X-Trail. It is clearly the end of the line for this generation of the CR-V. Without a Hybrid option and up to date safety tech it can’t compete when asking the same price.

Nissan X-Trail

Honda CR-V

Engines

4 Cylinder Petrol (95 Octane)
DOHC EFI
2.5 Litre (2488cc)
Claimed 135Kw @ 6000RPM
Claimed 244Nm @ 3600RPM

IL4 Cylinder –
