We have regarded this generation of Sportage as the better looking and designed version of the Hyundai Tucson both inside and out. The Sportage’s curves and lines are cleaner and more cohesive design than the bits and pieces approach than the donor Tucson. As a result the design is far more contemporary than the last gen design and even what the new CR-V is current wearing. So how do they compare?

Honda CR-V Vs Kia Sportage exterior comparison: It’s quite a contrast, the CR-V looks dated and the Sportage looks thoroughly modern and it should age well since it still looks as new as 3 years ago when released. If Kia was trying the leap frog any potential CR-V design it has succeeded. However at a cost, that the majority of conservative buyers in this class will find it looking too ‘modern’. Honda has lost not not only engineering edge but also their design staff that’s for sure. For example in the past that made the mass market Accord look and drove like a more premium model but come 2024 and all Honda’s are all pretty much generic to drive and DOA in terms of design.

Honda CR-V Vs Kia Sportage interior comparison: The Sportage interior is a nice place to be. It looks good from a distance and good to interact with. It is upmarket in ambience but it’s design dominated by the dual screens and is so anonymous when you compare it to cheaper SUVs in 2024, especially the Chinese brands. In comparison the CR-V looks a feels just a good and more classically upmarket thanks to an instrument binnacle. It is all about personal preference as to which one you prefer.

Honda CR-V Vs Kia Sportage engine and technology comparison: Like the Hyundai version the Kia Sportage has just received an hybrid engine option but its too late to be included as part of this review. Whereas the CR-V has the option and it is a pretty decent one albeit nothing revolutionary about it. All other tech is dependent on model grade you buy and neither has any real feature worth highlighting.

The conclusion and winner of the new Honda CR-V Vs Kia Sportage comparison is a draw. The Sportage looks and feels good, arguably a little better than the CR-V. However CR-V does feel more ‘solid’ that than the Sportage. The CR-V has a Hybrid engine option so wins most of the other categories in the comparison but we wouldn’t be Ok with a dated looking car in the driveway.

Honda CR-V (2025)

Kia Sportage

Engines

4 Cylinder –
