As per usual we are doing a series of the new Landcruiser Prado vs the rest of the world comparisons. It is always interesting comparing SUV from the same manufacturer but also comparing the original model it is based off. So how does the original Land Cruiser compared to it’s younger sibling? Is the Prado a better buy than the 300 series Land Cruiser?

250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Vs 300 Series Toyota Land Cruiser exterior design: Despite sharing under body structure and parts the look of both are quite different. One thing is clear, is that the Prado looks proportional whereas the larger 300 series Land Cruiser is not. Sure both are conservative designs but the Prado is less so and we think it is the better looking one.

250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Vs 300 Series Toyota Land Cruiser interior : Both interiors are nice places to be in regardless of model grade. However the higher the model grade the better it gets in both models. The Prado has a more Toyota upmarket ambiance whereas the 300 Series has a Lexus look and feel. Note that the interiors of both have always had different treatments. There is plenty of space in both and you do notice the hybrid system in the Prado boot area more but with the 3rd of seats up.

250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Vs 300 Series Toyota Land Cruiser engines and technology : The 300 series does not have any stand out engine or tech to note. Well apart from the well publicised flaw with the first series of 3.3 litre turbo V6 diesel. They should be fixed now and its probably business as usual. The Prado though has a Hybrid engine but due to the AWD, 4WD and off road requirements, it is quite different compared to regular hybrids. It would have been quite a challenge to put together but certainly room for further packaging and fuel efficiencies.

The conclusion and winner of the 250 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Vs 300 Series Toyota Land Cruiser is neither. Each model will appeal to the same group of buyers yet with different priorities. It would be a comparison of the top range Prado vs the entry level 300 Series if shopping on price or perhaps size as the main selling point. But as we’ve said before the mini-van is arguably the better choice in terms of pricing and the need for interior space. While both Land Cruisers would be great and comfortable long distance and off road cruisers the prices are too high and unaffordable for most.

<table style="width: 80.6063%;
