The Qashqai is one of favorite SUVs at the moment and limited supply shows that we are not alone in that view. The Range Rover Evoque when released was another model constrained by supply shortages in 2012 but clearly there is plenty of stock in 2015!

Range Rover Evoque Vs Nissan Qashqai exterior comparison: The Qashqai looks good on the outside and will be more common sight on the roads as more are sold. The older Dualis has aged well so we can only guess whether this model will follow in the same class. The Evoque when released in 2011 looked every inch worth it despite its high price tag. However thanks of ranger Rover’s corporate short sightedness most of the Evoques are low end models with few exterior options and honestly look a little cheap. Some also have dubious options and many make them look incomplete. Optioned appropriately the Evoque could do so much better but then again the design is clearly not the classic we initially thought. At least it was the trend setter for the class for a little while.

Range Rover Evoque Vs Nissan Qashqai interior comparison: The Range Rover Evoque ‘can’ have the nicest interior or one which has an ‘aquired taste’ depending on options but as a entry level model it can only be described as OK for the price tag. Unfortunately not the $30,00o price difference to the Qashqai. The Evoque does have short cuts in trim and under panels which we think is a little disappointing and needs an update to truly be worth the price and badge. Qashqai interior is really quite good for the price being one of the best regardless of class. In fact a few higher grade materials would do the trick easily to be a match.

Range Rover Evoque Vs Nissan Qashqai engines and technology comparison:The Evoque has all the latest tech including AWD system that is arguably the best in the class. However much of it is optional. Furthermore thanks to the Ford Focus connection has up to dates engine and tech. While the Qashqai is much cheaper it still has all the tech and more (that’s right) minsus some interior embellishments but missing out in the key areas of engine and transmission tech. Carry over engines and CVTs with ‘fixed settings’ is not state of the art. Missing AWD gear is also an interesting omission. High performance doesn’t really sell in this class – The Qashqai has good looks and daily driver abilities with more tech than most Evoque’s as standard makes it very impressive.

Ranger Rover Evoque vs Nissan Qashqai drive: The Evoque has decent on road feel but only for an SUV when compared to say a normal car its no better than a Ford Focus if that. Furthermore the base engine is a little slow. We are yet to drive the Qashqai due to limited supply at the time of this post.

The end result is that an appropriately optioned Evoque is a good looking package but ultimately it is for badge hunters due to its unreasonable price. Range Rover knew what they where doing with this model, good looks with a nice interior decent engines but based on a much cheaper platform – essentially style over substance. But in comparison to the Qashqai the Evoque is in an interesting ‘dilemma’ we do not think is a has the right package of style or substance in 2015 especially for the price. 3 years ago definitely but not today. If it where $20,000-40,000 cheaper we would consider it further but as is definitely – No way. That said a top range Evoque is essentially the best and only model to get as the lower end models are simply that. The Qashqai is feature packed and priced to sell it does have the style and substance.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
