It’s old vs new here! The Qashqai is the original name for the Dualis here but Qashaqai else where so it can be confusing, why they didn’t stick with one name in the first place is simply PR gone haywire – sack them we say especially after all they stuffed up the Pulsar badge. How could Nissan have fallen for Marketing 101 trick on how to waste money without trying?! Warning that this is a prelim comparison as full details will only be available at launch.

The new Qashqai will be released in July 2014 so here’s what we think so far. (Updates will follow.)

Nissan Qashqai vs Nissan Dualis exterior: The new Qashqai is a significant update to the older model! It is similarly aggressive front end yet edgy but conservative enough not to scare off too many would be purchasers. It is similar to the Subaru XV though which is another model we like the look off but clearly Nissan has done a better finishing job. The new model does’t make the old Dualis look old immediately because they look like from different brands than related. The new model also looks very much like the bigger X-Trail which a a decent looking SUV too!

Nissan Qashqai vs Nissan Dualis interior: From the close up pictures, the Qashai has the better interior no question. The Qashqai has a more mature interior design with a much appreciated upgrade in quality of materials. The older Dualis going to look and feel very average.

Nissan Qashqai vs Nissan Dualis engine and technology: The new Qashqai has many of the latest safety and engine tech including a turbo diesel. Both have been updated and include start stop tech. Although the 2 litre petrol is not exactly a power house it is adequate. Other features in blind spot monitor, smart phone connectivity, land departure, 360′ camera etc.. in various trim levels.

To conclude so far: we think the new Qashqai is probably the best of the smaller SUVs on sale. Smaller SUVs meaning Mitsubishi ASX, Citroen and Peugeot triples, Hyundai ix35 and Sportage twins. More to come soon!

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
