We ignored the Jeep Compass purely because it is not a very attractive car when released in 2006 and even when they ‘updated’ the exterior while better is still a little awkward. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we think they need corrective lenses. We still don’t understand how so much money can be spent on what is clearly original WTF design there is no defence.

Jeep Patriot Vs Jeep Compass exterior comparison: The Patriot exterior hasn’t changed much over the years for obvious reasons. It looks Ok and stands out in the crowd of the latest ‘me-too’ or similar designs but being almost retro. The Compass is not attractive. The image we picked was the only one that looked any good… We’re trying to understand how a failing company could try and sell a design that was doomed from the start. Some say the 2011 upgrade to the Jeep Compass makes it look looks like a mini version of the Grand Cherokee (not surprisingly the commercial sites) – are you joking? Admittedly the one angle it manages to look like one is front on but only on the higher end models. The Grand Cherokee is one of the best looking well proportioned SUVs on sale at the moment the Compass is not close.

Jeep Patriot Vs Jeep Compass interior: Both are not impressive places to sit in but not too bad either I guess they could be described as OK. Even the Korean manufacturers have developed cars released at about the same time that exceed these two terms of quality and design. The placement of shiny rings and nicer steering wheel in the from 2013 models onwards do help but aka VW does with the Golf but look beyond that and it is a bit plain. Furthermore the tiny speedometer and rev counter need glasses to read easily. That said in comparing these two on their own we’d pick the Patriot only because it had one shiny bit the Patriot didn’t. (Both are essentially identical)

Jeep Patriot Vs Jeep Compass engine and technology: Both share the same engines which are modern units but needs refinement for real fuel saving. Based on specifications, they should go OK but not particularly quick.

Jeep Patriot Vs Jeep Compass on the road: N/A

In the end both are OK sort of cars and their main selling points are lower prices than the competitors but that’s not enough. The Jeep brand is well known but even Apple couldn’t sell these due to the competition. The Patriot is the least offensive and probably the one to go for. We hope that the next generation rectifies the looks and improves the quality of both these cars as they could could be so much more.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
