Both have been around for a few years and both have been given exterior and interior face lifts. The Captiva 5 and the Captiva are still available and on the road it seems that the 7 version is more popular, probably because of its relatively cheaper for the extra space compared to the 5 and other ‘Small’ and ‘Compact’ SUVs. The Captiva 5 and 7 at its current list price is a deterrent especially when you drive it.

Holden Captiva Vs Jeep Compass exterior comparison: The Holden Captiva 5 and 7 exterior is quite nice, it is reasonably conservative . There is a distinct difference in the front end of the two versions and we prefer the Captiva 7 since the squared off front looks more higher end then the ‘cheaper’ or more ‘modern’ edgy Captiva 5. The Jeep Compass looks unlike the concept car it is based on and is still not a good looking car despite the pictures.

Holden Captive Vs Jeep Compass interior: The Captiva 5 and the Captive 7 have different interior treatments. Both have been ‘blinged’ with some nice metal garnishes to give them a upmarket look. You can be thankfully has they distract you from the average quality plastics and design. Unfortunately in some models they are distracting at certain times of the day reflecting light very brightly. The Jeep Compass is not as good as either Captiva. There are much nicer interiors in this class to sit in. The interiors are merely acceptable in 2013.

Holden Captiva Vs Jeep Compass engine and technology: Both models have modern engines but need extra refinement and technology for the latest fuel saving and efficiency gains. The petrol versions for the Captiva and Compass make only adequate power so the diesel version is the choice if you want efficiency and better power. The relative noise and ride are not really selling points. Unfortunately both are also heavy weights starting around 1600kg Only 4 cylinder petrols in the Captiva means it is a slug and not an economical one either.

Jeep Patriot Vs Holden Captiva on the road: What’s it like driving the Captiva on the road? There is a problem with the Captiva. A 8 year old Prado can corner more securely, quietly and much zippier than a 6 month old Capitva – they weren’t fast corners just a regular round about. The refinement of the Captiva diesel is not impressive nor the noise levels. Maybe it was just the car we where in but we don’t think so. We haven’t been driving in a Compass at this point and not likely to.

The Jeep Compass and Holden Captiva are not impressive compared to the latest small SUVs but they are acceptable. When their recommended retail price is taken into account with its competitors they really don’t cheaper either. Unless you get a really good deal your money is better spent on another brand and model. Neither car has that special something that makes them even vaguely desirable, they rate equal in our eyes. We think you should focus on other models which have that ‘something’ like better quality for example that makes them worth a closer look.

Holden Captiva

Jeep Compass

Holden Captiva interior

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" style="border-style: initial;
