The all new S-Cross is the successor in some markets to the SX or Liana that has been around for 8 or so years. That said the Liana is still for sale in various markets where it is quite popular. The current version of the RAV4 has been around for about 12 months.

Toyota RAV4 vs Suzuki S-Cross exterior: The RAV4 is a instantly modern shape and looks like a Corolla on stilts. The rear end only differentiates it from the regular hatch. The S-Cross in pictures looks awkard not helped by oversized headlights thick lowers and unsuitably design alloy wheel in the press pictures. However in the flesh it is well proportioned and does look conservatively nice. It has quite a few styling clues used by the Nissan Dualis or Qashaqi. Our advise is to look at it in real life rather than the pictures. However overall the S-Cross does not particularly modern to look at.

Toyota RAV4 vs Suzuki S-Cross interior: The interior of the RAV4 is one of the best in the class while being quite different to the all the other small SUVs it competes with. It’s well put together and has some nice touches in many places but on the higher end models. The S-Cross has a nice interior too but is traditional in terms of design. It also shares parts with other Suzuki models like the Swift and Kazashi. The RAV4 has the more interesting design but not so much as to alienate it from conservative purchasers so wins this part of our comparison.

Toyota RAV4 vs Suzuki S-Cross engine and technology: Both RAV4 and S-Cross use modern and cary over engines but not leading edge technology. The S-Cross currently only available with a 1.6 litre engine which is seriously underpowered compared to the competition and it own weight. This is Suzuki’s biggest technical problem. Next, all CVT transmissions are always going to be a hard sell as they are still not as good as a regular geared transmission. The engine noise is uninspiring and yes drones when encountering any challenging terrain eg. small hills. We’d pick the RAV4 anyday.

Toyota RAV4 vs Suzuki S-Cross: N/A

The conclusion is simple. The S-Cross is very ordinary compared to the slightly more interesting RAV4. Besides the final and probably biggest problem with the S-Cross is price. The entire range S-Cross model range is in the ‘you’re joking’ price range. We immediately did not think the S-Cross was worth 22 grand plus on road costs! and that’s for the base model. In contrast the 2 door Grand Vitara is a much better choice! Needless to say the RAv4 is priced a little higher than we’d expect for the package. Overall the RAV4 wins – Suzuki needs to go back to the drawing board with the S-Cross package because it’s not going to work.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
