The Kia Grand Carnival has been around for about 8 years and despite being clearly outdated is still one of the most popular MPV in the country according to sales stats from 2013 and we can understand why but it is definitely not perfect. The all new Honda Odyssey is probably one of the best packages on the market at the moment but its not perfect either. So out of interest we checked them both out again.

Kia Grand Carnival vs Honda Odyssey exterior: There is very little to say about this part of the comparison. The Kia is not an attractive car on the outside even when it was released all those years ago. The Honda is a mostly conservative but is a good looking car.

Kia Grand Carnival vs Honda Odyssey interior: The Kia is one of the largest MPVs and there is plenty of space. That said the quality of design and materials are very dated and you’d only find this sort of quality in the cheapest and less known branded cars on the market 2014. As per our latest Star Trek inspired metaphors, the Carnival represents the original TV series and the Odyssey represents the latest movies. Strangely this may be preferable if you have a messy family. The Honda is luxury compared Kia.

Kia Grand Carnival vs Honda Odyssey engine and technology: The Kia Carnival has modern engines in the guise of a V6 and 4 cylinder diesel. The Diesel engine makes the Grand Carnival the only choice if you want diesel but can you live with a car that looks like that? Likewise the Kia’s V6 is a great choice but the fuel consumption can be as high at 15.6 per 100km around the city. The Honda Engine is underpowered compared to Kia but the fuel savings are there. The Tech in the Honda is desirable and light years ahead of the Kia.

Kia Carnival vs Honda Odyssey road test: Not yet.

If you want a diesel engine then the Kia Grand Carnival is a perfect choice but its is very dated. That said, the Grand Carnival’s price is competitive in the MPV class. The Honda is a great package but with a smaller engine which is compensated by being 300Kg lighter then the Kia but that may not be enough if you want more power. We’d rather have the Odyssey as it will be the easier car to live with.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
