The specifications listed here are for the 2007 100 series. As an historical note the 100 Series was often compared with the Nissan Patrol GQ series in the late 1990’s which is still in production today. However without any significant upgrades the Nissan Patrol it is an example of how far the 4Wd world has progressed.

The 100 series LandCruiser is the last of the affordable models in the series, the 120 series taking over from it that market. If find a used 100 series it would still be quite usable as they are very reliable and hard wearing.

We like the 100 series LandCruiser and would certainly have purchased one, the main issue at that point in time was that the engines where limited and underpowered when compared to the Prado. However it did come with a V8 engine, while impressive used at lot of petrol in the city and not particularly powerful. The problem was its massive weight! The other important selling point between the two was that Prado had a massive 180 litre tank for genuine cross country trips while the 100 series a mere 141 litre fuel tank 🙂

We felt like the king and queens of the world when we drove the 100 series but when compared the Prado was more civilized which is the another reason why we went for the Prado – essentially for style and design.

The 100 series LandCruiser’s exterior design dates back to the late 1990’s and was not the modern appearance we were looking for. The Prado at the time was attractive and modern. In addition the interior while Ok was not as nice as the Prado. The old LandCruiser’s interior packaging was not the most efficient compared to the Prado. We think you’d pick the 100 series for its durability off road and proven reliability, towing and things like that. You will be seeing the 100 series on the road for many years to come.

120 series LandCruiser Prado

100 Series LandCruiser

Engines

1GR-FE –
