We like the new Qashqai so we revisited the Kia Sportage for a comparison. The Sportage was one of our favourite small SUVs. However as time moves on and there have been essentially no updates which is understandable since it sales have been gradually rising despite better models from the competition. We think its the perception of better value for money in the Kia than the competition brands which is clearly not true as the Sportage is one of the more expensive models with no clear justification except for looks for course!

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage exterior: Despite being styled quite differently especially in details both cars actually look good in real life and in pictures. We like both.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage interior: The Sportage interior was pretty decent when released. It looked and felt solid with a design that was different to its competitors. In 2014 the Sportage is and feels small but still OK but not as inviting or nice feeling as Qashqai. The Sportage’s higher price does’t help as you will feel let down.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage engine and technology: The Sportage uses up to date engine technology that is reasonably fuel efficient and market standard safety tech, there are absolutely no standard out features. The Qashqai has a carry over engine but on the other hand has the latest safety and in car entertainment systems and displays regardless of comparable Sportage. The only difference is that Sportage has the option of a diesel engine but the price difference is noticeable and not worth the effort unless you really want a diesel for some reason. There is little difference in fuel consumption but higher service costs over time for the Kia need to be taken into account.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage drive: N/A

To conclude the Qashqai is more impressive in the showroom and specification it is justifiably and currently our choice in the small SUV class. The Kia Sportage was pretty good for a little while but is now overpriced and under specified.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
