We decided to compare what we consider the two best value smallish SUVs on sale in Australia the moment. You can get a pretty decent deal on either model and that’s only because they are the oldest models in the class and in ‘run out’ aka when they receive new stocks. They really don’t look too flash against the newly released smallish SUVs like the HR-V or even close to the levels set by the CX-3.

Jeep Patriot Vs Mitsubishi ASX exterior comparison: The Jeep Patriot looks like the successor to the 1980’s Jeep Cherokee which is definitely a future classic. The Patriot of course will never be a classic due to it largely anonymous looks. The current ASX is quite a conservative design compared to the prior model and the current update doesn’t make it look any better. The ASX is honestly not a good looking car but when optioned up with the nice alloys and chrome is not too bad, that said the Peugeot 4008 which is essentially the same car looks so much better. Overall though we prefer the Patriot exterior design.

Jeep Patriot Vs Mitsubishi ASX interior comparison: The Jeep Patriot has had a few interior updates over the years and the latest version is best described as acceptable. There are metal highlights which distract the eyes for the acceptable plastics and build quality. The ASX can be described in a similar fashion to the Patriot in being acceptable interior. The lack of some metal highlights is a refreshing change and also shows the ASX has better quality parts to begin with. The size difference is not noticeable in the front at least. There’s not much in it really so it will depend on your mood on the day as to which interior is preferable.

Jeep Patriot Vs Mitsubishi ASX engine and technology: Get the Patriot with the 6 speed auto or manual version. Avoid the base model with the optional CVT at all costs. The same goes for the ASX and its CVT but clearly has the advantage because you can get one with the high powered diesel. The only key features that is lacking on the Patriot is a diesel engine version and the panoramic sunroof with mood lighting which the ASX has and is a key selling point at this end of the class and market. Of course medium to long term reliability is a key factor is decision making and Jeep does not has a good track record.

Jeep Patriot Vs Mitsubishi ASX on the road: N/A

It’s a tricky decision on whether we prefer the ASX or the Patriot we prefer. Each has it’s own charms and deciding which one will depend on which dealer will give you the best price it intimately the deciding factor. If space is a big considering than the Patriot (and you like the look) is probably the best pick. Personally we’d go for the Peugeot 4008 which gives you Japanese reliability in a classier body than the ASX and Patriot.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
