You must be is fantasy land if you haven’t heard of all the real problems with the current generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and its dealerships. Of course things will improve eventually and we can finally consider actually buying one. Ignoring all the problems, the Grand Cherokee it is actually a very good car and SUV and most of all competitively priced. The Kluger is a just like the prior generations and the default choice if you simply can’t decide and it is actually quietly very good.

Toyota Kluger vs Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior: Both are ultimately conservative looking SUVs with road presence (ie chunky) in a suburban way. The Kluger can only be described as generic Toyota, its not ugly or stunning and seemingly deliberately designed to appeal to as many as possible. That said the extra bling on some Grand Cherokee models make it stand out more than the Kluger. Honestly there’s really not much in the difference but the Grand Cherokee probably looks a better being more correct in size proportions.

Toyota Kluger vs Jeep Grand Cherokee interior: Ignoring size the Kluger interior is clearly part of the new design language for Toyota. It looks and feels nice and easy to use with lots of practical features and well made. It is a significant departure from the T layout it has been using for decades. The Grand Cherokee interior can look and feel Ok for entry level to looking and feeling very classy for the top range models. We love the digital dash, layout and materials for top range models. For base to mid-range Klugers wins the comparison while the top range Grand Cherokees make the price worth it.

Toyota Kluger vs Jeep Grand Cherokee engines and technology: The Kluger only has the V6 petrol engine which is a pretty decent and surprisingly economical. Apart from that safety system are decent but only the top range gets the lot which is disappointing since this is largely and family car. It is missing genuine off road mechanical – but that is not the point of this Kluger. The Cherokee has lots of equipment too but only some of the safety systems the Toyota has at this point. The choice of engines is very good including a diesel and V8 although there are options none of them are under powered. We prefer the pointless but glitz and feel good gadgets on offer in the Grand Cherokee .

Toyota Kluger vs Jeep Grand Cherokee drive : N/A

The conclusion is … We’d buy a Grand Cherokee if there was real proof that it will be a reliable purchase. Sure there are plenty recalls to reassure us that they take problems seriously however if you can’t trust the dealer to do the recall work than what is the point. Hence we’d buy the Kluger by default. That said there are a number of other models to choose from, like the Pathfinder and even the MPVs like the Odyssey to look at.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
