The Navara has a few months head start to new Hilux and it definitely needs it in terms of marketing. The new Hilux doesn’t need any further introduction just released and probably on top of the sales charts. We don’t expect the Hilux to be the best ute in the class but we expect it to be completely reliable regardless of what ever we need to use it for! The Hilux represents Toyota’s marketing and branding for so long and that history is it’s ultimate power above all.

2016 Toyota Hilux vs Nissan Navara exterior comparison: The Hilux has never been an outright good looking ute and this model the new Hilux is no different. As a clean sheet model we think that it was clearly designed with the ages old Toyota template of make a good looking car then use the current car design touches, feature a ‘controversial’ element and then tone it down – inoffensive is probably the best description. The best feature is the Prado like squared off wheel arches which is a highlight against it’s competitors which have circular ones. The Navara has always been one of the best looking utes in the class.

2016 Toyota Hilux vs Nissan Navara interior comparison: Both ute interiors look great in photos however in real life while nice does not equal the images. The base models are literally basic compared to the top range you see in the pictures. Lighting, Photoshop and a great camera do wonders. We tossed and turned checked them out several times and agreed that the more conventional Navara interior was nicer while the new Hilux interior didn’t feel quite as homely. Both interior makes the GXL 120 series Prado and the 150 series feel underdone – next to the SR5 model that is…

2016 Toyota Hilux vs Nissan Navara engines and technology comparison: A win to the Navara for a simplified engine line up of 3 engines, petrol, turbo diesel and twin turbo diesel. There is no rip off turbo tweaking charging unnecessarily more in the Navara lineup. It’s wins easily. The Hilux lineup comes with 5 choices including the rip off tweaking turbo charging stupidity. The Hilux has the option of latest off-road 4wd system including off-load traction control but so does the Navara.

2016 Toyota Hilux vs Nissan Navara drive comparison: Coming soon.

The conclusion so far is not conclusive since we can only do a spec and showroom comparison at this stage. So based on that we can say it’s a draw. However based on price though the Navara wins since it comes with more features as standard than Hilux and for a lower and sharper price. Sure it doesn’t have the brand image of the Hilux, but it is the next though in terms of outright street cred. We can’t help thinking that the Navara is for older buyers while the Hilux is for the younger crowd.

Note that the specifications are for the most popular variant the 4×4 Dual-cab.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
