Welcome to the all new Land Rover Discovery Sport Vs Ford Everest comparison. The all new Ranger Rover Discovery Sport is another great addition to the medium sized SUV class. We liked the Evoque and one of us nearly bought one so we where very interested in seeing whether the long winded by name Land Rover Discovery Sport was worth a look. We where lucky enough to have a decent look at the all new Discovery Sport recently and decided to compare to the Ford Everest which is the only other new model that at least matches the pricing ambitions.<\/p>\n

Land Rover Discovery Sport Vs Ford Everest exterior: The Land Rover Discovery Sport exterior design is the first departure from the square based Land Rover models and it is not as big as the Ford Everest. We are comparing them due to the price range. Note that this is a Land Rover not a Ranger Rover although many confuse the two, it is the a same as the Audi and Volkswagen brands. The Discovery Sport is not really sporty to look at or even described restrained sportiness since even the Toyota Fortuner looks better and certainly more ‘expensive’. The rear light treatment is awkward despite being similar to the old CX-7 design a decade older but it hasn’t been done right and just looks like an afterthought. As we’ve said before the Ford Everest looks similar to any number of SUV released in the last 10 years in comparison so the Land Rover wins the looks department.<\/p>\n

Land Rover Discovery Sport Vs Ford Everest interior: The Ford interior is exactly the same as the commercial ute the Ranger and as we’ve said is nice but not good enough for the asking price. \u00a0The Land Rover Discovery Sport looks and feels better mostly in standard trim, since there are a number of interior packages you need to make it feel worth the price its not entirely fair comparison. \u00a0The design is very old school Japanese more than European in feel but when you consider it against new Japanese aka the Odessey it’s not good enough. As a result looking at the default of interior pack in both Everest and Discovery Sport we think the Discovery is the better one.<\/p>\n

Landr Rover Discovery Sport Vs Ford Everest\u00a0engines and technology: The most disappointing thing about the Land Rover Discovery Sport are the engines. They are carry over from the Evoque and in thus from the Ford Focus. Clearly Ford based for reliability but lets be realistic this is supposed to be a Land Rover some mods are expected. Thanks to heavier weight against its donor cars performance is expected to be decent for an SUV aka torquey but slow. The Ford Everest single engine is a good one and unique with 5 cylinders. In other areas both Everest have safety and entertainment systems that match regular cars but since most are optional is disappointing. We decide which one is the overall winner.<\/p>\n

Land Rover Discovery Sport Vs Ford Everest road test: N\/A<\/p>\n

In terms of spec and showroom comparisons the Ford Everest is a good SUV but it’s not a Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Everest does have a lower grade interior design and lacks the quality that the Discovery Sport has by default. That said the Discovery Sport looks like a Japanese design on the outside and inside. However you really need the optional equipment to make it an SUV you’d expect at this sort of price. There is also the questionable reliability and common Ford Focus engine to deal with more so than the Everest. We wouldn’t get either and would avoid the Everest unless you like being ripped off.<\/p>\n
