New for 2016 the Kia Sportage has been refreshed with a new look a like it’s sister the Hyundai Tucson. We liked the prior Sportage due to it’s modern looks compared to it’s competitors at the time, although the rest of the package was ordinary. The Qashqai has been our favourite small SUV package since release really and driving it with the CVT was a good experience and didn’t debase our opinion of the car.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage exterior: The 2016 Sportage looks like a smaller Porchse Macan or even Nissan Juke from the front and Hyundai Tuscon and the prior Sportage at the rear, it does work well though. The most obvious thing about the Sportage is that the paint quality does not appear to be the same improved one as the Hyundai though. The Qashqai being a couple yeas older has not aged, looking as good as ever and does not have any problems worth pointing out.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage interior: The Sportage interior is a better than last version and its twin the Tucson. The quality of materials may be the same but the design can be described as more European and fits the exterior design nicely. The Qashqai interior design has always been traditional or conservative but it looks good and nice to be in. (The size difference is minimal) In the end we prefer the interior of the top range Sportage interior to the Qashqai but lower range models is pretty even.

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage engines and technology: Both have reasonably modern engines and only differ in the Sportage having a option of a larger 2.4 petrol and the Qashqai having a CVT. After driving the CVT Qashqai we like the in town manners and commuting but other driving environments a conventional auto is preferred. The Qahsqai has more safety systems so wins in that area. Both have pros and cons and we haven’t decided on our priorities between the two yet..

Nissan Qashqai vs Kia Sportage drive : The Qashqai is a nice commuter and traffic drive. Haven’t driven the Kia yet.

The conclusion so far is: Unlike the Tucson the Sportage is a closer match to the Qashqai and arguable its equal but different. Only the drive, looks and price will be the deciding factor. Since we haven’t driven an Sportage the final thing that we can compare is the price and the Sportage is more expensive than the Qashqai. We’d only consider the top range Kia Sportage but it’s $8000 more than the Qashqai for less features so we’d pick the Qashqai.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
