New for 2016 both Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson! Both share the same platform, engines and other technology but there are differences due to efforts to brand themselves differently.

Hynudai Tucson vs Kia Sportage exterior: Interesting to note that Kia had the sleek Euro influenced design language before Hyundai but they’ve suddenly swapped the design language for the brands. (The parent company Hyundai designs both.) Hyundai Tucson has the more edgy and conservative design while Kia Sportage has adopted the conservative design and then added some uglified touches like Toyota and BMW for example. Regardless both look good in their own way.

Hyundai Tucson vs Kia Sportage interior: We won’t add any more to the already numerous reviews we’ve done for the Tucson, and that it doesn’t match the great exterior. The Kia Sportage has the better interior than the Tucson, looks and feels better, at least in the top range version. Maybe we expected less from Kia?

Hyundai Tucson vs Kia Sportage engines and technology: Both share engines and drive train however the Kia has a regular 2 litre petrol as the base engine as opposed to the turbo in the Tucson and strangely the Tuscon doesn’t come with the 2.4 litre petrol. Safety system in both cars are class average and is disappointing since these two are the most expensive in the class. They aim to compete with the older RAV4, X-Trail and the CRV which is admirable but the Kia and Hyundai are smaller and less flexible if that matters.

Hyundai Tucson vs Kia Sportage drive : N/A

The new Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage are good choices, modern and competitive. Hint to marketers if you boast a 7 year warranty make sure to honour it, due to the number of in un-fixed issues we are starting to see and hear. We like the Sportage better than the Tucson purely on presentation, but wouldn’t include either in the short list due to price. The Sportage and Tucson are over $49,000 by the time you include on roads which is a bit of a joke in this economic climate since you can buy a BMW X1 base model for the same price or the Nissan Qashqai with change to buy a Vespa for much less.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
