The H-RV is a little older (2015) model than the Tucson (2016) by about a year and also a little smaller in size than the the Tucson. That said thanks to great engineering the interior of the Honda H-RV is more flexible than any of its competitors and about equal to the Tucson. The Tuscon is not a standout in comparison to its competitors but it is a big improvement over the last Tuscon when it was called the ix35 we like the Hyundai as it catches up to its competitors on style and substance. Both SUVs are the in same price price category except for the top of the range models. We wanted to compare them to determine if they where actually that different.

Honda HR-V vs Hyundai Tucson exterior: We like the Tucson’s exterior, sure it is overall conservative design but it just looks good higher quality paint too! The HRV is like a high rise hatchback but it’s lines are too conservative to be a standout against the sporty looking Hyundai Tucson.

Honda HRV vs Hyundai Tucson interior: The Honda HR-Vs interior in really nice for the small SUV class, it has a few interesting touches that are clearly retro like the long air vent and some modern features like the touch only controls. The HRV has better looking instruments and controls the Tucson does not. The interior materials are similar in both SUVs but overall the Honda HRV feels nicer to be in than the Tucson for most of the model range thanks to higher quality hard plastics in seldom touched places and soft ones where the body meets.

Honda HR-V vs Hyundai Tucson engines and technology: A single engine choice in the HR-V that’s adequate and multiple choices in the Tucson range all of the adequate due to the increased weight. Both have all the safety equipment but as usual optional on most models. The Magic seat technology in the HRV is worth a mention as always since it allows the HRV to be much more flexible than the Tucson. It is also one of the few new SUV that can run on 91 Octane as standard.

Honda HR-V vs Hyundai Tucson drive : The Honda HR-V drives exactly like a taller Jazz or Civic. The CVT works well in traffic and around the city that’s for sure, still revs odd though but its not too bad for a CVT. The short test drive revealed that it was quiet and smooth enough. There was seriously nothing that we could really pick at, which we normally would. Not driven the Tucson yet.

The conclusion so far is the Honda HR-V is a get city SUV, rides well, handles well, enough go and nice to be in. It is a really food city city. The Hyundai presents great on the outside and relatively not as good on the inside unless the top range version and it is bigger than the Honda. Both are priced above it’s competitors about the same size and spec which are arguably as good if not better, we refer to the Mazda CX-3, CX-5, Qashqai and so forth. In this comparison though we’d pick the HR-V based on price but the Tucson on size but as you can guess we would rather buy its competitors.

//
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
