We’ve already said that the Suzuki Jimny is in a class of it’s own It’s the oldest and smallest SUV but with real off road ability. The Jeep Renegade on the other hand is the newest and smallish SUV on the market with the top of range Trailhawk version having the off road 4WD systems.

Suzuki Jimny Vs Jeep Renegade exterior comparison: The Jimny is really small compared to Renegade in size and looks conservative. The Jeep honestly looks like a cool car on the outside with the combination of deliberate odd angles we can only describe as retro inspired lines. Even the rear lights have the ‘X’ design like ye olde fuel tank, shovels and picks?

Suzuki Jimny Vs Jeep Renegade interior comparison: The Jeep Renegade has a great interior with a modern high quality but a little dark but with lots and lots of Jeep branding. It really feels comfortable and great to be in. The Suzuki Jimny’s interior is small but nice to be in. The materials are not soft or look expensive but the design is not exactly out of date either. We prefer the Jeep even ignoring the size difference.

Suzuki Jimny Vs Jeep Renegade engines and technology comparison: The Jeep has all the latest tech and safety features including a 4WD system, likewise entertainment but a lot of it is optional. The 4WD system is high tech too but clearly not as good basic system in the Jimny. The Jimny has the basics but at least you can add things like stereo system, extra comms and GPS yourself without excessive costs.

Suzuki Jimny Vs Jeep Renegade drive comparison: The Jimny is not the most comfortable SUV but that’s due to its size and capability. It’s relatively noisy and stiff, but it handles virtually anything you want to drive through or over. The Jimny is not particularly fast which either which can be problem, the solution is floor it everywhere! Yet to drive a Renegade.

We like the Jimny but due to the small package makes it very focused on what its best at. The Jeep Renegade is a great package ruined by a few key things specifically engine choices all of which are down on power, unknown reliability and it’s price is too high for the class. You can buy nearly 2 Jimny’s for the price on one Renegade Trailhawk. Perhaps if it has better engine choices… The Jinmy is great in isolation it is a fun car to drive, ultimately reliable and trough perfect small city car.

Suzuki Jimny

Jeep Renegade

Engines

IL 4 Cylinder (M13A)
IL 4 Cylinder petrol
DOHC EFI VVT
1.3 Litre (1328cc)
Claimed 62.5Kw @ 6000RPM
Claimed 110Nm @ 4100RPM

IL4 Cylinder Petrol
DOHC EFI
1.6 Litre (1598cc)
Claimed 81Kw @ 5500RPM
Claimed 152Nm @ 4500RPM

IL4 cylinder Petrol
1.4 Litre (1368cc)
Turbo-charged
Claimed 103kW @ 5000RPM
Claimed 230Nm @ 1750RPM

IL4 cylinder Petrol
2.4 Litre (2360cc)
DOHC EFI
Claimed 129kW @ 6400RPM
Claimed 230Nm @ 4400RPM

Weight

Kerb weight 1060 –
