We like theFord Territory but not the Hyundai Santa Fe for various reasons. Being on it’s last production run we think that it’s a pity that the Ford Territory will be discontinued after all it is arguably better than all the other Ford SUVs currently available. The Hyundai Santa Fe has been around for a few years but updated for 2016 and was a popular choice due to having a good diesel engine and it looked good. (It’s petrol engine is underpowered for the package) However people are embarrassingly begin to discover that modern diesel engines not just the Santa Fe diesel engine are more expensive to maintain more expensive to buy and not as fuel economical as the once were.

Ford Territory Mk II Vs Hyundai Santa Fe exterior: Both SUVs are in the same size category that fits in between the CX-5, CRV, X-Trail and the medium sizes like Pajero and Prado. The Ford Territory has had a few updates over the years and the current skin is current and not a bad effort but it’s not exactly good looking. The Hyundai Santa Fe is about the same size as the Territory but more importantly larger than the traditional small SUVs like the CX-5 but not that much bigger although much higher price. The Ford is a little larger again and we think it’s a perfect size, not tot go or small. The Santa Fe though does look better than the Territory which is great start.

Ford Territory Mk II Vs Hyundai Santa Fe interior: The interior of the Territory is old school compared to the Santa Fe. However it does have a traditional European touch to the overall design, better or more modern materials and colours would certainly lift the appearance. It can seat 7 like the Santa Fe. The Hyundai Santa Fe has a good interior feels most good but it’s not a exactly luxury especially in the base model. Top range Santa Fe models look much better but it missing something. If you are upgrading form a cheaper Hyundai to the Santa Fe you’d you would be highly impressed but from a newer car not so.

Ford Territory Mk II Vs Hyundai Santa Fe engines and technology: As we’ve said before the Ford Territory is a performance ‘sleeper’ it’s got lots of power in a family wagon, it handles well for an SUV and rides well too. In 6 cylinder from that’s very little complain about regardless of model variant you choose. The Territory’s diesel engine is a modern unit that produces a class competitive power and has the same lag as the Santa Fe. Although it is missing the latest safety tech but at least in car entertainment are up to date. The Latest Santa Fe has under powered petrol engine which is why you won’t se many of these. Only in diesel form does the Santa Fe drive decently if you can overcome the turbo lag and noise. We think the Santa Fe has only has class standard safety systems as there is nothing to really point out and in car entertainment is also class average. Eg. the Subaru has many more features than the Santa Fe for less.

Ford Territory Mk II Vs Hyundai Santa Fe road test: The Ford Territory drives smoothly and has plenty of go if you want it especially in 6 cylinder spec is excellent. The diesel feels powerful but intimately can be only described as good. The Territory’s handling is very good and safety systems competitive with other 20014-15 models. The Hyundai Santa Fe rides relatively hard and noisy mostly from the engine, it is not a pleasant experience in traffic as tested but handling felt OK but stiff suspension without real handling was only called ‘sporty’ in the 1990’s.

It is an easy win to the Ford Territory against the Hyundai Snata Fe. Hyundai needs to take the model more seriously and price it accordingly to the number of obvious flaws or make it a better SUV. We also think that’s its twin the Kia Sorrento is better. Rear air vents features in PR for the Santa Fe which is really true since it is the only feature that standout in the comparison. You’d be happier in the Ford Territory easily – especially the 6 cylinder version.

<td style="text-align: left;
