Continuing on with our series of the comparisons featuring the 2016 Suzuki Vitara and its competitors, this time we did a quick revisit with the Honda HR-V since they are in the same price range and class and we rate it very highly.

Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara exterior comparison: The Honda HR-V is a good looking SUV, it is a modern design and should age well. Overall it is a conservative design that anyone would be happy to own based purely on looks. The Suzuki Vitara definitely has design themes from the current Grand Vitara and original Vitara models. It is a nice looking small SUV too and clearly conservative but strangely challenges – we don’t know why so you should check it out yourself as pictures on the internet don’t reflect it’s individuality. However in the end certain Vitara models look better than the H-RV so wins this part of the comparison.

Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara interior comparison: Both are not huge interiors but there is plenty of space for 4 real sized people. The interior design of the HR-V is the best in the class with lots of space and configurable according to your needs and with a few retro touches which can only be there as a deliberate design choice. The quality of materials is probably just above average for the class in 2016 but as always a few ‘cheaper’ parts like the hard dash but it doesn’t look it which is why we think its good. See prior comparisons and reviews for details as we don’t want to repeat it again! The Suzuki Vitara interior is simple and relatively spacious but not as cleverly designed as the HR-V despite the similar size. Since there tons of hard plastics which they have purposely decided not to hide looks actually quite good when polished up but it clearly not luxury.

Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara engine and technology comparison: The HR-V has all the latest safety tech but some are part of an additional safety pack which only includes additional lane departure, forward collision warning and lights which honestly is not exactly critical features. At least it does have auto brakes from the mid range models onwards which the Vitara does not have. Overall plenty more features than the Vitara in this area although the Vitara does win back some ground with a Android and iPhone compatible stereo system. The HR-V does disappoint with a CVT and average engine power comprehensively beaten by the engine options in the Vitara.

Honda HR-V Vs Suzuki Vitara drive comparison: It down to person preference but the regular transmission and zippy engine in the Vitara makes it the better drive.

In the end the winner of this comparison between the Honda HR-V and Suzuki Vitara is the HR-V. The HR-V package in mid-range guise is the best choice, priced around $30,000 on the road and with all the quality of materials and safety taken into account is very good value compared to the other small SUVs not just the Vitara. That said for the mid range Suzuki Vitra optioned with the 1.4 turbo is arguably the pick in the Vitara range also comes in around the $30,000 on the road but there are not enough features to compete against the HR-V overall.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
