Welcome to the new 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Vs Renault Koleos comparison. Both are new models for 2017 and both brands have high expectations for them. We like the Renault Koleos for it’s looks and features that are often called upmarket. While the new Tiguan is an evolution of the original which we never liked it for a number of reasons the new one was always going to be interesting to compare it with the competition. The new Tiguan has gone up in size so it no longer a small SUV and likewise the Koleos but you can’t call them medium sized either…<\/p>\n

VW Tiguan vs Renault Koleos exterior: In terms of styling there is nothing more boring and conservative than any car or SUV from Volkswagen. VW is after all the German version of Toyota in terms of branding pity about VW reliably though. Anyway we digress, the Tiguan is clearly a Golf with a wagon body and raised, it is not ugly or good looking but it is a box which is fine if that is your thing. The Renault Koelos has a design flair that the Tiguan can never have, so wins this part of the comparison.<\/p>\n

VW Tiguan vs Renault Koleos interior: The VW Tiguan is a office like place to be in, with some nice materials. However it takes more than a soft touch dashboard top that no one touches and some metal surrounds to impress anyone these days. \u00a0That’s the only place that feels any good because the rest is not up to the expected VW standard. There are clear cheaper parts like in the doors, rear and under dash panels but that’s not unusual but always noticed in daily drives which can be annoying. It is a very similar design to the Golf and Audi models which is good for the cheaper models in the range. The LCD screen which is an option for the instruments is a nice touch but expensive. Useful and practical, good size and all that can be labelled at the Tiguan and they have excelled at highlighting the obvious trinkets like the genuine useful rear trays. On the Koleos while not luxurious, feels better to be in than the Tiguan as it’s not an office themed and bigger too with everything else is pretty much equal. Sure the Koleos’s large centre screen surround and air vents look on the cheap side but the surprising door illumination and plastics are mostly soft touch and look good.<\/p>\n

VW Tiguan vs Renault Koleos engines and technology: VW is notorious for ripping people of with the same engine with different turbo boost setting hence never gets recommended by any of us. Their pricing is usually higher than the competition for very little more and almost everyone (8\/2)we know has had a problem to talk about as well as servicing costs – it cost more for the cheaper model to service apparently… Anyone will pay more for a better quality product but the Tiguan is not it and further more the 2nd generation Tiguan continues the rip off turbo tweak pricing. In contrast the Koleos has all the features of the VW and adds auto brakes and a better sounding stereo system and more easily wins the technology part of the comparison. \u00a0What about the gearbox CVT vs VW version of DSG? – we prefer consistent smoothness of a CVT to sometimes jerky or inconsistent VW’s DSG system.<\/p>\n

VW Tiguan \u00a0vs Renault Koleos drive: N\/A<\/p>\n

The winner the comparison between the Volkswagen Tiguan vs and Renault Koleos for 2017 \u00a0is : the Koleos. \u00a0The Koleos presents just as well as the VW Tiguan in most parts and most of all has competitive pricing. Top range models on both offer all the equipment but for the VW to offer the glass roof, safety pack is another $6000 more when the Koleos has it all and more for $12,000 less. VW does not have the branding to justify the higher price in this instance as for that sort of money you could get a base Mercedes Benz GLA for $10000 less compared to a top range Tiguan with paint and a sunroof and with standard safety systems. Buy the Koleos for the standard safety systems and much better stereo system, reliability and probably equal resale values and take a trip to France for the price difference and be happy.<\/p>\n
