We think that the Kia Sportage is one of the best small to medium sized SUVs when compared to any SUV on sale at the moment. As for the new Tiguan, it has not endeared it’s self to any of us although spec wise it’s worth a consideration if shopping in this size and price range.

VW Tiguan Vs Kia Sportage exterior design comparison: The new Tiguan is definitely not a stand out in terms of styling so very conservative buyers will be more than happy with it’s appearance. The Kia Sportage to many does not look good at least on the front end although the rest of the car is pretty good. We think the Sportage actually moves Kia’s design forward and don’t mind it. The Sportage looks more European than the Tiguan which is the same conclusion many will come to since taking the badge off the Kia, almost everyone thought it was from a French manufacturer or even a small Porsche.

VW Tiguan Vs Kia Sportage interior comparison: The Kia Sportage interior is a nice place to be in, everything looks and feels good. The top spec Sportage genuinely feels like a more expensive car in the front and back. We like the button approach to the interior with single function buttons in logical function groups. The Tiguan is nice place to be too but only in the top spec version and if you option it up appropriately. In many ways the Sportage feels more expensive than the Tiguan even when loaded up with all the options.

VW Tiguan Vs Kia Sportage engine and technology: The Tiguan does have all the expected safety systems in 2017 but so does the Sportage although it is currently limited to the high end models. In terms of engine choices, both are pretty much equal although as we always point out the turbo tuning trick in an VW is a bit of a rip off. In terms of other gadgets the Sportage has standard sunroof and even wireless charging and compatible with Android and Apple phones which is more useful that ambient lighting.

VW Tiguan Vs VW Sportage on road: Sportage coming soon.

The winner of the VW Tiguan Vs Kia Sportage comparison is the Sportage. The Tucson looks better inside and outside has more standard equipment in particular the top range models. The Sportage costs $10,000 less than the VW fitted with equipment except for the optional digital dashboard and netter interior trim of course that is standard in the Kia. The issue is the brand or badge. It’s a Kia and currently does not have any sort of image expect for being good value! The Volkswagen has a decent brand image although currently having trust issues with it’s diesel engines and gearboxes. The view by us on the current VW models except for the Golf models is up marketing rather than reality they say its German but they aren’t made in Germany. Yes we love the Golf in spite of the diesel cheating and gearbox because it’s reasonably priced and genuine decent drive. The Tiguan doesn’t do anything more than a Golf or even the Sportage in this comparison to deserve the price difference.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
