The Hyundai Accent is not really in this small car class by our definition as the Accent is literally too big and inefficient. However people still buy it so there must be something to it and we are going to find out. Of course both cars are in the same price bracket – $15000 to $19,000 so worth a comparison. The Suzuki Ignis is literally a small hatchback with increased ride height but that is enough for it to be called an SUV hence our current focus of our reviews and comparisons. The base Hyundai and Suzuki Ignis are to of the cheapest small cars on the Australian market in 2017,

Suzuki Ignis vs Hyundai Accent exterior comparison: The Hyundai Accent has been around since 2010 and then it was also called Hyundai i30, of course a new i30 was released and so the original version resumes its Accent badge and still being sold but as a entry level car. The Accent has always been a cheap car and it’s current design look cheap and it shows, something that Hyundai is good at until the latest i-series small cars. There is also a sedan version of the car which we are not taking into account but we think it looks better than the hatch version of this comparison. The Ignis modern retro interpretation looks great and better than the Accent.

Suzuki Ignis vs Hyundai Accent interior comparison: The Hyundai Accent interior is a decent place to be in and least it’s not as bad as it’s model age suggests. It is just old fashioned in look, materials and feel. However the Accent has more space but not spacious if you get our meaning, than the Ignis and feels more substantial rather than solid. The Ignis feels solid and airy compared to the Accent. Due to the Accent’s history and market positioning the initial models where quite well equipped but the latest models are purely budget cars. Ignoring size if you want a spacious, modern feel and efficient interior the Ignis is the choice.

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Accent engines and technology comparison: Both Accent and Ignis have modern but quite normal engine technology, see the technical specifications below. The Accent though has the option of a more powerful 1.6 litre engine which provides more than acceptable performance for a budget car although not particularly zippy compared to the larger ‘compact’ Corolla, Civics sized cars. The larger engine means that it can more easily cope with faster roads and freeways however the standard 1.4 litre is on the slow side especially compared to the Ignis. Safety systems on both cars is pretty much equal and even the stereo system in both are Apple and Android compatible, something that many more expensive cars don’t even have yet.

Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Accent drive comparison: N/A

The winner of Suzuki Ignis Vs Hyundai Accent comparison is a draw. The Hyundai looks old inside and out which is a problem, but it is good value for price. Branding is also a problem since more than usual 3 year warranty as a selling point is a marketing problem since it assumes that the brand has a reliability issue. Due to these factors we would not consider the Accent as a base model. The Accent’s higher power 1.6 litre engine is the choice since it something that the Ignis does not have as well as the larger size. In the end if you had a limited budget and wanted a conventional ‘larger’ small car the Accent would be model we would consider however if you are OK with a genuine small car than the Ignis is hard to beat.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
