First we need to mention is that there is a new Fiesta scheduled for release \u00a0later this year. Continuing our series of comparisons with the newest and the arguably smallest SUV the Suzuki Ignis with the popular Ford Fiesta, at least in other countries for 2017 was only logical. As a side note the Fiesta shares some of it&#8217;s tech with the prior generation Mazda2.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki Ignis vs Ford Fiesta exterior comparison: The Fiesta in it&#8217;s current guise has been around since about 2013 and was simply a refresh on the original 2008 release. The Fiesta in isolation still looks current, it&#8217;s lines haven&#8217;t dated and we think looks good. It&#8217;s a prefect example of good design and forward thinking right from that start over ten years ago. The Suzuki Ignis is a modern design with retro styling clues and it also works! It doesn&#8217;t really have and obvious ugly bits although the rear tail light could be called out of proportion but it&#8217;s retro. The Ignis will probably age well since it&#8217;s key design features are already decades old! We like the look and so will you.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki Ignis vs Ford Fiesta interior comparison: This is where the Fiesta shows it&#8217;s age. While the overall design is modern but for Australian and Asian models they have the interior equipped with lower grade materials. It has hard plastics everywhere that look hard which was Ok when released in 2008 but not in 2017. The Suzuki Ignis interior is modern and has a bit of youthfulness put into it but it too has hard plastics everywhere. However they are better quality plastics so you the Ignis literally feels better to be in.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki Ignis Vs Ford Fiesta engines and technology comparison: There are no standout tech features in the Ignis bar it&#8217;s high level of safety systems and completely up to date stereo system for the price. All the engines in the Fiesta are just as good as other small cars and certainly more powerful than the Ignis. The Fiesta features one of the best small engines \u00a0currently available, being the 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo in the mid range model. The specifications speak for them selves, producing diesel like torque at low revs and high power at the top end hence one most powerful small cars on the market in 2017. The fatal flaw is the DCG gearbox which has too many problems to be a viable option as it lacks a clean history, as with all current DSGs. If you don&#8217;t mind a manual the 1 litre turbo Fiesta is the best value reasonably quick small car. The Fiesta also comes with a hot hatch 1.6 turbo in the manual only ST model which is arguably the most powerful and entertaining small cars you can buy at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki Ignis Vs Ford Fiesta drive comparison: N\/A<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the\u00a0Suzuki Ignis Vs Ford Fiesta is the Fiesta. The Ford Fiesta in manual is the easy winner, purely with more power than the Ignis. Sure the Ford&#8217;s interior needs an update along with the a connected stereo system but these flaws are not enough to make it a loser next to the newer Ignis. However as an automatic small car or SUV we prefer the reliability and easy to maintain and cheaper Ignis.
