The Jeep Compass is an ‘all new’ 2018 model and much needed update to the original release 10 years ago that was surprisingly based on a concept show car. The original model was quite different to a traditional Jeep design and consequently it didn’t sell very well. The Jeep Compass really needs the diesel engine as it is a heavy weight as the 2.4 litre is a little underpowered. The Trailhawk model range toppers and those optioned with 4WD have extra low range gears and higher ground clearance for more off road capability which is nice to have. The biggest problem for both Compass and Renegade is the minimal safety equipment which is optional or not available.
