Both have been refreshed since our last comparison and at least one model has lifted it’s game. The most improved truck/ute is definitely the Holden Colorado receiving exterior and interior enhancements. The Ranger hasn’t changed much which is disappointing but that what happens you’re a popular model.

Holden Colorado vs Ford Ranger exterior comparison: The Australian version of the Holden Colorado is not clearly not about being a good looking truck or ute. It’s barely different from the the donor Isuzu MU-X, which is targeted at commercial buyers. We describe the curves as odd in appearance and the front end a noticeable fusion with styling clues used by GM vehicles. It’s not pretty and looks like an old school South Korean design from the 2000’s. The Ford Ranger is a good looking ute, big, conservative design that resembles Rod’s F series trucks. The Ranger is preferable to the Colorado except for the HSV Sports Cat which does a good job of hiding the less than attractive lines.

Holden Colorado vs Ford Ranger interior comparison: The Colorado had a much needed upgrade, it’s design and materials are now much different to the donor Isuzu D-Max. Unfortunately it wasn’t a complete update with cheap looking steering wheel and plastics around the centre console. The Ranger interior and design is one of the best in the class It is spacious and looks a feels nice definitely better than the Colorado. That said the HSV Colorado aka Sports Cat version is arguably the best model to buy although expensive but it has the best interior on offer.

Holden Colorado vs Ford Ranger engines and technology comparison: Both have modern turbo diesel engines of similar power and their safety systems are essentially the same regardless of model. It is hard to That said the engine torque produced by the Colorado rated at the magic 500Nm is worth boasting. Of course the trick to the Ford Ranger is that most of the range is 2WD only so you pay a premium for that which is a bit of a rip off. In comparison the Colorado has a 4WD biased range and the same powerful engine across the range and less weighting comparison to the Ranger means that arguably the Colorado is the fastest ute in the class.

Holden Colorado vs Ford Ranger drive comparison: N/A

To conclude the winner of the Holden Colorado Vs Ford Ranger comparison is the Holden Colorado. The Colorado wins purely due to value for money, spec for spec with the Ford Ranger. A mid-tier Ford Ranger is around $50000 and without a 4WD system. Since Holden have almost fixed the interior problems with the Colorado the only other problem is the exterior design. That said if you are a Holden fan then the HSV Sports Cat version which has the upgraded interior and exterior package you’ve always wanted, but at a cost and no engine enhancements. That said there are plenty of specials on the Colorado and that is why it wins this comparison.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
