All new for 2018 and based on the Nissan Navara, the Mercedes Benz X-Class is the first all purpose Ute for the masses. It hasn&#8217;t really made a mark on the buying public but it is only early days. Mercedes still makes purely commercial vehicles in terms of trucks and vans so not a new comer to the class. However there is some overlaps in terms of marketing, specifically the vans which can be specced to limo trim. The X-Class is no different to the van range and both offering a variety of trim and equipment packs.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan Navara vs Mercedes-Benz X-Class exterior comparison: Since both are based on the same platform you&#8217;d expect similar design and this is exactly what you get, however the X-Class is wider than the Navara. Exterior changes on the X-Class compared to the Navara only extend to the front and rear end and badging. Overall X-Class is still a nice looking ute and the current Mercedes-Benz front end styling. Is the X-Class better looking than the Navara? the answer is yes but not dramatically. Personally we wished that the could have gone further with the exterior changes as you can&#8217;t tell that the X-Class is slightly bigger.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan Navara vs Mercedes-Benz X-Class interior comparison: The X-Class is easily better than the Navara on the inside. It uses styling from the A class although not materials are not the same but at least the nicer steering wheel helps lift the ambience in some models. The Navara has a nice interior design and quality too but it&#8217;s not up to he standard of the X-Class. That said the X-Class is not in the same level as the sedan and hatchback A-Class let alone the C Class Mercedes but it&#8217;s good for a Ute\/commercial dual purpose vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan Navara vs Mercedes-Benz X-Class street engine and technology comparison: Both basically are identical technically for 2018 and made in the same factory so any issues with one will also effect the other. Of course there are settings changes between the two models in suspension and possible engine tuning since the Navara claims less fuel usage than the X-Class. The X-Class also has the better stereo system although not the Harmon Kardon system and other options are styling and interior and exterior lighting.\u00a0It is also interesting that the Navara claims less fuel usage than the X-Class for the same engines which could mean additional tuning.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan Navara vs Mercedes-Benz X-Class street cred comparison: It&#8217;s may be obvious the X-Class has better cred but the reality is that it applies only those who don&#8217;t follow the Ute class. The reality is that it is no better than the Navara as it looks to similar and as it has the same engines and other mechanicals. Will it impress the neighbours? only if they look inside and if they don&#8217;t already have a Triton, Ranger, Hilux. Only time and a AMG X-Class will the street cred improve.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the Nissan Navara vs Mercedes-Benz X-Class comparison is a draw. \u00a0The main reason is that the X-Class is that the mid-range 4WD \u00a0model (Progressive with no additional packs s RRP $54000) is pretty much equal to the Navara in terms of spec but has the Mercedes-Benz badge. You can always negotiate for the additional stuff!
