It’s been a few years since we compared the two but with the recent updates it’s worth a updated comparison. The original Trax was cheap looking small SUV especially on the inside and hence overpriced which we found reflected the brand poorly. Then again it may be what the new Holden is all about. The Ford Ecosport was a great small SUV but it’s spec was simply odd aka with an automatic to the more powerful engine hence not priced fairly. However That’s all been changed over the years. Are they the Ecosport or Trax best small SUV’s for sale?

Ford Ecosport Vs Holden Trax exterior comparison: The Ford Ecosport to us looks better when compared to the Holden Trax. The Ecosport may be a ‘traditional design’ but it looks sharp or ‘edgy’ with the latest Ford design language – it looks good. The Holden Trax is an older design at first viewing and it doesn’t stand out in any way especially with the revised front end design. It clearly is from the same mould as the Holden Captiva so it’s a South Korean design which are stereotypical quite ordinary. At least it doesn’t look as cheap as the rest of the sedan or car range. In the end the Ecosport has the more trendy look and the Trax as the conservative, retiree look. You wonder why the latest models don’t sell…

Ford Ecosport Vs Holden Trax interior comparison: Thankfully both have been updated. The original interiors for the Trax in particular was based on the Holden Barina and Holden Spark so it was a cheap looking and feeling place to be in. That was at odds with the price tag back in 2013. In fact it reveals it’s South Korean influence by cheap interiors but passable exterior designs much like the current Hyundai Kona. The interior was ok for a $15000 car but not a $25,000 SUV that’s for sure. The update looks much better in design and feel. The Ford Ecosport had a material quality problem rather than design in that while is looked good the materials where hard and cheap looking. Thankfully the 2018 update sees a much better design but materials still need to be addressed.

Ford Ecosport Vs Holden Trax engines and and technology comparison: The Ford had a spec problem when released mainly in that it didn’t have a automatic in the top range versions. That has been addressed and now even the base engine spec is reasonable. The in car entertainment system has been updated likewise safety but missing Auto brakes. In comparison the Holden Trax has been updated with the latest in car entertainment system but still doesn’t have auto brakes and requires more expensive premium when equipped with the turbo engine. Poor showing since the Eosport turbo can still run regular unleaded. So in the end the Ecosport now has the tech spec win.

Ford Ecosport Vs Holden Trax drive comparison: N/A

The winner of the Ford Ecosport Vs Holden Trax is the Ecosport. The only flaw is that the Ecosport has is the lower quality materials on the inside. We presume that the main market for this car is not the same as say the CX-3 or HR-V and the Trax is targeted. Regardless it does have a decent interior now and the spec list win over the Trax. The newly updated Holden Trax is clearly aimed at the masses in the same mould as the any other Toyota but badged a Holden or rather South Korea Daewoo. It’s smaller version of the Captiva in concept which is not a good thing, due to problems that plague the Captiva right up to the end. Hence ultimately it is about price and the Trax is arguably not worth the price difference to the Ecosport. Even more telling is that the CX-3 is better value than either for the same price range.

<td style="text-align: left;
