The light commercial vehicle class is relatively large, with around 200,000 units sold every year. This figure is a growing number and so are the number of models. The 2019 Triton is very good on the outside but less so on the inside but every comparison we done so far we still think it’s a winner not just due to price but the overall package. The Holden Colorado has classic commercial specification and it was overpriced when released and while it was updated still not in the main sales race. We compared the two to see wether it deserves better sales.

Mitsubishi Triton Vs Holden Colorado exterior: The Colorado exterior is not particularly eye catching for the right reasons. It’s not aggressive or ‘manly’ rather it’s visually and design challenged. It’s basically the Isuzu donor design with Holden or GM badges stuck on. Sure there are differences but you wouldn’t pick them side by side. This design is something from a design studio 10 years ago in South Korea or currently what you’d get from a Chinese manufacturer, it is their overriding design philosophy. You really need some fancy alloys and a few accessories to get the best of what you get as standard. Like makeup for your car! In comparison the Mitsubishi have done a great job with the latest Triton and it really looks great compared to the Colorado or any other brand for that matter. Sure the Triton is slightly ‘smaller’ but which one would you rather be seen in?

Mitsubishi Triton Vs Holden Colorado interior: The updated Colorado has a much nicer interior than the original release however it’s not quite the full upgrade it needed. The Colorado low grade steering wheel quality for example is a carry over and it cheap likewise the gearshift and centre console. Everything above that is new and looks good. The Triton interior is similar to the Colorado in terms design but a slight lift in design and materials consistency.

Mitsubishi Triton Vs Holden Colorado engines and technology: The Colorado has a more powerful engine compared to the Triton so makes it a decent drive but safety systems are not quite there, like missing auto brakes even as an option. The Colorado’s old school 4WD system is nice to have but not as flexible as the class leading Triton no the road. There is not much between them really like most models in the class. The Colorado has the 500 Nm engine as standard in automatic guise which means it’s has one of the most torque laden engine of the any of the Utes current on sale.

Mitsubishi Triton Vs Holden Colorado street cred: The Holden badge and history of Isuzu D-Max twin helps with street cred but that’s not enough when it looks cheap… Each to their own but sales figures speak for this general option. The Triton would look good in any driveway and work site which is all you can ask for.

The winner of the Mitsubishi Triton Vs Holden Colorado comparison is the Triton. It’s really hard to beat the price for feature package of the Triton even with the price increase for 2019’s new models. The Triton is not the best at every measurable specification but it doesn’t claim to be either. The Colorado is a decent enough Ute on it’s own but the starting price is a problem when comparing it the Triton or other Utes in the same class. However The Colorado’s larger interior may be the selling point but the RWD only on sealed roads has grip issues in the wet especially with all that power as any Ute driver will be aware of and certainly not restricted to the Colorado. You really need to drive both to see weather the Colorado is worth the price difference and wait for the special deals.

<td style="text-align: left;
