We think they are comparable due to price and purpose. Sure each have their speciality and we were faced with a similar decision to sell the Prado for a CX-5. Only the arrogant or brainwashed by Press releases would think or have the opinion otherwise.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mazda CX-5 exterior comparison : We like the Pajero Sport’s exterior design. It looks good in a modern way and will not date within the next decade if current designs by other manufacturers are an indication. The CX-5 uses the latest Mazda design language looking like what most would envision a sporty wagon to look like. All the proportions are good but unfortunately left with a very looking generic rear end. Both are nice but we think the Pajero Sport looks nicer!

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mazda CX-5 interior comparison : The interior of the Mazda CX-5 is very good in the low end models and excellent in the top range models. I rare to find a car or SUV in the price range that looks and feels this good especially for a mainstream model. It is more upmarket than the equilivent Pajero Sport. The Pajero Sport is noticeably larger on the inside but more so in length than width. Regardless we’re sure most will find the interior of the CX-5 a nicer place to be in but the Pajero Sport is quite good too.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mazda CX-5 engines and technology comparison : The CX-5 has a range to engines that consist of non turbos and a twin turbo diesel engine. The non-turbo petrol engines are the most advanced in the world as they produce decent power and meet emissions. In terms of petrol engines Mazda have truly overtaken the once leading edge engineering status that Honda once had and even surpassed BMW and Mercedes. There is also the new turbo petrol which can only be described as a powerful engine! Unfortunately the CX-5’s diesel engine while a twin turbo unit makes only decent power it is not the most powerful or efficient in the class and the AWD system is an on-demand system. In terms of safety the CX-5 has all the latest gadgets including auto brakes but it is still as annoying as the rest systems currently available. In comparison the Pajero Sport has the single turbo diesel that produces good power although not exactly powerful. The Pajero Sport also has the safety systems equal to the CX-5 including auto brakes and also a has fully featured 4WD system for real off road driving. As a result the Pajero Sport has the edge in terms of technology specification.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mazda CX-5 road test: N/A

The conclusion of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mazda CX-5 comparison is the Pajero Sport. The Pajero Sport is hard to beat due to it’s overall package. It’s fully equipped to match urban SUVs and at a price that is affordable for anyone wanting a great value 4WD. However if you want a smaller, easy to drive in urban environments and a great interior than the CX-5 is the best choice but if you want value for money and happy with the compromise then you know which other SUV to buy.

<table style="width: 75.66410714285715%;
