The Colorado SuperCat has been around since 2018 and has very little advertising. On the other hand the Ford Ranger Raptor has been given a notable media introduction last year as well. Both are the top range models on their respective range and claim additional performance from the lower grades and marketed to enthusiasts. However are they really that different to their siblings or each other?

Ford Ranger Raptor Vs Holden Special Vehicles Colorado SuperCat exterior comparison: The Ranger Raptor has understated looks and we’ve seen many similar customisations of the Ranger before. There are also some styling clues to the original F150 based Raptor in the US so at least they tried on the exterior side things. The SuperCat on the other hand has plenty of modifications to set it apart from the regular Colorado. In fact it’s stereotypically HSV in terms of visual ‘additions’ including the unnecessary bonnet air scoop and in fact you’d probably think it was put together but an enthusiast owner rather than a fully fledged factory. This can either be good or bad depending on your styling tastes.

Ford Ranger Raptor Vs Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) Colorado SuperCat interior comparison: Neither have completely upgraded interiors from the regular models. It’s basically colour stitching, leather and soft plastics upgrades in both. Nicer seats but high maintenance leather with no cooling and heating – is not good enough. Overall the Colorado interior is more fitting for off road focused Raptor and the inn terror of the Raptor more suited to the road biased HSV Colorado SuperCat. Regardless both do not justify their price tag.

Ford Ranger Raptor Vs Holden Special Vehicles Colorado Super Cat engines and technology comparison: There are 3 model grades of the SuperCat but the biggest difference is the auto vs manual in terms of pricing. In comparsion the biggest difference between the SuperCat vs Raptor is way the suspension has been setup. The Raptor as bespoke suspension for off road entertainment and the SuperCat is built to be the best handler on the road. The Raptor’s engine and transmission is one of the most modern in the class but not unique to the model and available as an option to most of the range. In comparison, the SuperCat has no change to the performance of the diesel engine across the range. The conclusion is simple don’t buy these these for tuned or additional performance engines because there is no difference to the regular models. That said the engines have plenty of power for daily and off road drives comparably similar performance in the vein of the latest Honda Civc of Mazda 3 but not handling.

Ford Ranger Raptor Vs Holden Special Vehicles Colorado Super Cat drive and street cred: To the target customer, both models are for those who care about street or off-road are. The answer to the question is that the Raptor has it off-road and the SuperCat on road. While the Raptor is a new brand, HSV has a market of nostalgic HSV Clubsport owners and aspirants from the 90’s and 2000’s since Holden no longer makes any sort of car, HSV doesn’t really exist anymore. However because it’s not a good looking special and there are no performance enhancements most have ignored it.

The winner Ford Ranger Raptor Vs Holden Special Vehicles Colorado Super Cat comparison winner is a tie. Without any engine performance improvements there is only the suspension, looks and equipment to commend them. Regardless it is hard to justify the price difference from the regular models in the range. They to trade on branding more than anything else.

<td style="text-align: left;
