We&#8217;ve done a specification injustice with our last series on the ASX using old specifications so with the release of the updated model we&#8217;re updating the specs and releasing a new set of comparisons with the 2020 version over the next few weeks.\u00a0The pre-2020 series Mitsubishi ASX is a best seller due to price spec and looks. The new or rather updated ASX is a noticeable change from the the prior model and a step forward but is there more to the update?<\/p>\n<p>Mitsubishi ASX Vs 2020 Mitsubishi ASX exterior comparison: Mitsubishi has done another yet another update to an exisiting model and like the prior Triton ute the ASX has bee updated in such \u00a0easy that it looks like a completely new model. Side on they look virtually identical yet when viewed at any other angle the are quite different. \u00a0It a great effort to change the front and rear end yet make it look like it was always meant to be that way&#8230;if you know what we mean. We like the new design it&#8217;s modern and clearly uses Mitsubishi&#8217;s current design language to good effect. More to the point of buyers is that the base model and top range models look very similar.<\/p>\n<p>Mitsubishi ASX Vs 2020 Mitsubishi ASX interior comparison: While the exterior has had the most attention the ASX interior has been left essentially untouched. The design is the same, likewise the materials and the only noticeable change is the stereo system, which in some models have a larger screen but hasn&#8217;t been integrated as well as it should have been. There are other rather dated elements like the aged centre console design but it&#8217;s expected and look OK&#8230; The interior was always been a nice enough place to be it just does&#8217;t look like the latest designs.<\/p>\n<p>Mitsubishi ASX Vs 2020 Mitsubishi ASX engines and and technology comparison: There hasn&#8217;t been any changes in the engine choices except for the removal of the turbo diesel option. The larger 2.4 litre was a last minute addition to the ASX and is now the top spec engine, it&#8217;s used by most of Mitsubishi&#8217;s cars and SUVs. The engines are not particularly powerful just adequate. The safety systems additions a good to have including auto brakes but it&#8217;s still not up to the standards of Subaru for example so it matches class average features. More telling only mid range to top end models get the more feature. The old ASX sold on price and reliability from a known brand more than anything else. The 2020 model is essentially an exterior and specification update. Likewise there hasn&#8217;t been a noticeable increase in prices due to the highly competitive segment and the added safety and better looks justify any small price increase. The driveway pricing deals are competitive throughout the entire range but picking the top of the range model is on the expensive side.
