Nissan Navara D40

Welcome to the Nissan Navara NP300 Vs Nissan Navara D23 comparison. This is  specification comparison for the time being as the all new Navara isn’t actually for sale yet. When it does we’ll be one of the first to give it a go since the new Navara is one of the most important global models for the company.  For the time being here’s our views on the differences. The post will be updated as more details and experiences arrive.

Nissan Navara NP300 Vs Nissan Navara D23 exterior: The exterior design for the D40 has aged surprisingly well considering it’s based on the same themes that appeared prior to the D22 series over 20 years ago. The new D23 Navara is clearly an updated design to the original theme with enough design clues to link it the older model. We think the new Navara looks good in most angles in a more aggressive fashion.

Nissan Navara NP300 Vs Nissan Navara D23 interior: No competition here really the D23 Navara interior looks like the benchmark in interior design and quality for the entire light commercial class! The new design theme follows on from the rest of the Nissan range in being conservative yet modern.  It will be a nice place to be in may even be better than the currently leading Ford Ranger/BT50 and under underperforming VW Amarok.

Nissan Navara NP300 Vs Nissan Navara D23 technology: New engines for the Navara means you can expect the latest safety/economy and in car entertainment options. The new diesel engine is a low capacity 2.3 litre diesel with two states of tune (ripped off again) simply based on this marketing stupidity we say go the Hilux, Ranger or BT50. YOU are being ripped off for the same engine with the turbo up or down – triumph of marketing stupidity we say (Remember Tidda or Tiider whatever). There is NO excuse for it except for taking the purchaser for granted. That said the ONLY redeeming feature is that the specifications between the two states of tune are not chalk and cheese like the even more ridiculous VW Amarok engine tunes.

Nissan Navara NP300 Vs Nissan Navara D23 the drive: The old one was good for a commercial vehicle we’ll tell you more about the new one in the near future.

We think that the new NP300 Navara is a very good ute/LCV/Ute  right up there with the current best! The only significant flaw is the stupidity of the same engine two tune marketing rubbish. This decision on the engine is the biggest problem with the new D23 Navara and one that will prevent us from recommending it. Let’s hope the servicing requirements will be as good as the competitors.
