Release late 2020 the Mazda BT-50 is a completely different model from the Ford Ranger which where the same car with different front and read end designs. It is arguably and relatively expensive to develop all new models and Mazda and Ford have been sharing the same model for the Mazda Bravo BT-50 and Ford Ranger – it has been that long. It is logical since Ford did virtually own all of Mazda for decades. Times have changed and Mazda now share the same model with Isuzu and Ford will be charing the same model with Volkswagen Amarok. It probably works out cheaper for Ford since VW Amarok is clearly has issues but that’s another story. So is the Ford Ranger still worth buying over the new Mazda BT-50?

Mazda BT-50 Vs Ford Ranger exterior comparison: The controversial Mazda BT-50 front end of the prior generation has finally been retired for a much more stylish one and it makes the Ranger look a little old. Old in the sense of still decent but tired. In comparison the BT-50 is best described pretty good looking. The Ranger is still the bigger ute and looks it.

Mazda BT-50 Vs Ford Ranger interior comparison: The Ford Ranger has a nice interior but it is minimal, conservative and a little dated bar the nicely trimmed leather in the top range Wildtrak. It was nice because it was a step above the hard plastic interiors that looked hard – commercial vehicles mostly have but of course things have changed. The old BT-50 used to have one of those interiors (despite sharing everything else with the Ford) but now the Mazda now has the upgraded version as the Isuzu D-Max. The new BT-50 interior is a nice place to be and mostly looks and feels good to be in.

Mazda BT-50 Vs Ford Ranger engine and technology comparison: The Ranger has one of the most powerful engines in the class but that doesn’t make it particularly fast or handle any better – for the road racers. It’s a good engine and largely inoffensive like power delivery makes it one of the main reasons for buying one. It’s lack of safety and refinement does show against other utes though. The Ranger Raptor variant is one of the best off road focused production models you can buy. The latest BT-50 shares it’s engines with the D-Max and has class average power and specs however it also shares class leading safety systems which is a bonus in this class.

Mazda BT-50 Vs Ford Ranger drive comparison: N/A

The winner of the Mazda BT-50 Vs Ford Ranger comparison is a draw. The only problem with the Mazda BT-50 is pricing in 2021 else we would prefer the it over the Ranger. The Ford Ranger is for people who are Ford fans and those wanting the physically biggest ute in the class. An all new Ranger and Amarok twins will arrive shortly and by all accounts it should be good.

// google_ad_client = "ca-pub-2027171236681273";
