Welcome to the Mitsubishi Outback Vs Subaru Forester comparison for 2022. It wasn’t so long ago since the current Forester was released as a seeming update on the prior model, much like the 2022 Subaru Outback is a seemingly mild update.\u00a0 The Mitsubishi Outlander was released late 2021 as an all new model but it still is essentially a clone of the new X-Trail which is yet to have a world wide release. So how do they compare?<\/p>\n

Mitsubishi Outback Vs Subaru Forester exterior comparison: The Outlander’s design grows on it grows on sales and availability. Sure it is a conservative box like design and it’s proportions on the move at least make it look a size bigger than it really is. The base grade Outlander models however do look poverty pack on the outside. \u00a0In comparison the Forester is a tweaked design that dates back 10 years and there’s no denying that. There are styling tweaks on the front and rear end but it’s not a massive redesign. We don’t understand why Subaru did not give it proper update given the claimed all new platform underneath – or does it really?<\/p>\n

Mitsubishi Outback Vs Subaru Forester interior comparison: Subaru interiors of late have been impressive (for the price) places to be in and the Forester does have an advantage over the Mitsubishi Outlander. There doesn’t seem to be much difference from the past model. In comparison the Outlander has a contemporary aka template style interior that is a nice place to be but we don’t think as nice as the Subaru. That said both are what you’d expect interiors in 2022 to be like.<\/p>\n

Mitsubishi Outback Vs Subaru Forester engines and technology: The Forester has the mild hybrid option but the efficiency claimed is not exactly impressive or even note worthy by 2022 standards. It\u00a0 still uses more petrol than the non-turbo and non-hybrid Mazda CX-5. In comparison the carry over and shared Nissan engine and tech in the Outlander make it less than impressive. The safety systems on the Foster is more impressive than the Outlander regardless of model grade likewise the standard AWD system is a marketing advantage. That said the Forester is more capable of going in a straight line than around things like corners and roundabouts.<\/p>\n

Both use carry over engines and safety tech that has been updated from prior model, so nothing new to write about here. \u00a0The Subaru AWD system of note is great at going in straight lines. It’s great at cornering too because it forces the driver to slow down as it understeers like a truck by 2022 standards. Both will do mild tracks without any issues so there is really no reason to buy a more genuinely capable model that said there aren’t any to choose from in the price range anymore. Apart from the utes aka light commercials of course.<\/p>\n

In conclusion and winner to the Mitsubishi Outback Vs Subaru Forester comparison is the Forester. What stood out for us was not the comparison with the Outlander itself but the Forester’s deliberate shortfalls in spec compared to the Subaru Outback. That said the Forester has the tech benefits of more safety and AWD compared to the Outlander at the same price point which is why it wins.<\/p>\n
